Re: New book - Coasting around the UK: Roller Coasters of th

Hi Rob Apologies for the delay I have been trying to find an answer from the publisher. I have been advised that at this stage, the book will not be available electronically. With just a few weeks to go until its released in the UK (its already available in the US), thought you may like to see a cou...

Re: Have we been spoiled by Florida and DLP???

A very interesting discussion.  I have been fortunate to go to quite a few overseas parks and been on much higher calibre of rides than we have over here.  Do I look at our parks differently?  Yes I do, but and this is my point, there are a few little pockets of hope. I noted that in ...

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach General Discussion

I must say a big well done to Pleasure Beach for extending from 8pm - 10pm today. Hopefully we will see this more often. Yeah it was nice to see the park extending hours... However, ride throughputs were terrible ALL DAY.  When your signature attraction gets through only approx 626 people per ...

Re: Towers' Pricing

When you consider £27 gets you into Flamingoland and they have all the animals to look after and feed all year round then £25 would be a great price for Alton.  One price all year, no off peak prices, just £25 I have been doing a lot of reading about marketing using vouchers and actually spoke ...

Re: Towers' Pricing

As soon as parks start to give offers (ie 2-4-1s), then customers start to become savvy. There are parks out there which are well known for not giving offers and they are thriving, Paultons park as an example.  Finding the same kind of offers for Flamingoland is also very hard. However, as soon...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

Time is merging into past, present and future with my aging mind...

Thanks for the refresh Astro....

My point still remains that it should have been like this from day one.... Whoevers fault that is, who knows, but to open up such a sub standard attraction was crazy.

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

The attraction is a lot better than opening day.  Dont get me wrong, its not a World Class attraction by any stretch of the imagination, its just a lot better than what it was. The question that arises though, is why wasnt it like this from day one?  The concept should have been developed,...

Re: Off Peak Closure of SkyRide and Other Cuts

The big problem with Merlin which does seem to be overlooked is the level of debt. In 2011 it was £1,094.1m In 2012 it is £1,209m So that makes Merlin Entertainments 1 Billion in debt... 1 BILLION IN DEBT...  Basically the operating profits are not enough to pay the interest on the debt, so the...

Re: Roper update

Its very easy to criticise the Ropers in this, and please do not think that I am on their side, as i'm not, However, Alton Towers have exacerbated the problem countless times and are also at fault here as well.  Some of the installations that they have put in have not been sympathetic to their ...

Re: Parc Asterix 2012: "Oz'Iris" B&M Invert!

After managing to get on Nemesis on Saturday, exactly one week after riding OzIris, I have sadly come to the conclusion that OzIris is better than Nemesis.  It was always going to have to be something special to beat Nemmie and that ride has come along. On another point though, the amount of Ne...

I know ;)

It will be interesting riding Nemmie though, to see if the King has actually passed the crown on to his successor !! :)
