Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Correct - Not sure where you got "KFC Project" from as it has nothing to do with The Smiler.

The only tenuous link I can think of is the rebranding of the chicken outlet in X Sector from KFC to Fried Chicken Co in 2012, a year before The Smiler opened.

Re: Wicker Man Construction Discussion

There's lots of pathways in and around the ride as it's built over the top of one of the main access roads through the park. I wouldn't expect any of the pathways which run under the ride to be open at anytime other than Scarefest/Fireworks, where they are used for crowd control purposes.  One pathw...

Re: Wicker Man Construction Discussion

Wooden coasters have a lot more variables than their steel counterparts. Also wheel type can make a lot of difference, Wodan at Europa Park changed its wheel type to make the ride significantly faster. It’s not uncommon to test a few different types to get the right speed. The time of day/temperatur...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

To clarify on the opening time. It's simply a technical issue with caching on the official website. Everything is as announced and reported by TowersTimes yesterday.

Re: Logger's Leap

It would close early, it's that simple.

The actual setup for Platform 15 wouldn't affect it either, contrary to comment i'ver seen elsewhere, Loggers Leap operated perfectly fine with a train running along that route.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

A huge step in the right direction.

I'm hoping their new flexible approach to closing times is actually put into practise. They tried it a few years back and it was rarely used.

Re: Logger's Leap

The park are still very keen to reopen the attraction. I know it seems unlikely to most but I wouldn’t be surprised if it reopens for next season as their low capex before 2020.

Re: Air Concept Art. Never Seen Before.

Amazing stuff...

Imagine if the area had actually looked like that, those head choppers on the ride track would have been awesome.

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

The ride is going to run three trains, so with blocking I would expect;

One train on the circuit
One train loading
One train either in the preshow if it stops the train or waiting in the maintenance bypass/turn before the station.

Just a heads up that today is your last chance to vote! The voting system will be taken offline at 10pm tonight.

Results will be announced in the near future. :)

Re: Heide Park

Lots of the flat rides from the park have appeared on private showmans advertising groups on Facebook. So it looks as though Merlin is having one of its flat ride culls in the near future. Oh and we’re due to find out what’s happening to Colossos within the next week, so that’ll be fun seeing them e...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

They would be stupid not to sell posters of the artwork, at minimum I think we’ll see the prints like they’ve done with the other attractions in recent years. Obviously concept art is heavily embellished, but I think we have a good shot at the fire from the top of the structure being very impresssiv...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

The artwork and visual styling looks incredible. Though Alton Towers has always excelled in this area. The worlds first is laughable, but then does it really make a difference? That’s just some marketing fluff to get it in the papers, probably to justify the mistake on the Merlin Annual Pass sale ad...

Re: Events Calendar 2018

As it’s a meet up I would expect the focus will be around SW8 opening and riding together. There won’t be any fixed plans for the day so people are free to come and go as they please. ScareMazing is the only event where the activities carry age restrictions or advisories. Usually 15+ for the scarema...

Re: TTSP Discord?

Hello, Thank you for the suggestion. We used to run a full chat room service in addition to the forum and shoutbox, whilst initially popular this eventually could not sustain itself so we discontinued it. We have also previously had a community based Skype group which had the same eventual outcome. ...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

In the past they have allowed those with renewals not yet due to buy and not ‘redeem’ the renewal until necessary (up to a year) so it’s definitely worth giving them a call and asking about that. I think they basically just add the months to the new pass.

Smilies!

Hello!

Sadly the time has come to retire our existing smiley set. Over the coming weeks we'll be slowly phasing them out and introducing a new modern "Emoji" set.

We're aware of a few bugs, so please bear with us during this transition! :)

And yes, of course we have :poop:

Re: Winter Wonderland - Hyde Park London

I visited on Boxing Day. I'm lucky enough to be able to get to a lot of the bigger fairs in the UK and Europe so things like Hangover, Air, Blizzard (Turbine), XXL etc are far too expensive at Winter Wonderland for my liking. I often find them half the price and giving twice as long cycles elsewhere...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

Can i ask what makes the images become illegal ? Im just an intrigued man here and there is no laws regarding images taken from aircraft or drones at this point ? The footage clearly shows guests within the path of the drone which makes this a legal grey area. We have extensive knowledge of the reg...
