First visit to Alton Towers in 8 years

Visited for the first time in 8 years last week, for two days, so a bit of a review from me. First thing I'd like to mention: getting to this park with public transport is an absolute pain, both Thorpe and Chessington are super easy to get to, but Alton basically requires you to either rent a car or...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

How does the woodland walk work for getting into the park, is there separate turnstyles? And can you use it in the morning for ERT

Re: Chessington - General Discussion

Had a really good visit on Thursday. Queues were non-existent which was good, but also sad as I love chessington and don't want it closing/losing investment. Tiger Rock was a lot better than I thought it would be, although disappointed with the lack of mist in the drop, and imo they could have done ...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Thanks. Also how easy is it to get a taxi back from alton towers to stoke on trent? (rail station) Is there a pick up point where taxis gather? Or would you need to phone up and book one. Also how long would the journey take/cost?

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Never stayed in the hotel before. Is there a separate entrance to the park for hotel guests? And if so is this how you get ERT? Or do you need some kind of special day ticket for ERT? As we just booked bed and breakfast for the hotel, and have park tickets separately.

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Visited last Sunday (Easter), thought I'd give a quick summary on my thoughts. Went on TWDTR first - review posted in the other ride thread. The rapids have definitely been worked on, and have greatly increased in speed and roughness. You actually get quite wet now! They just need to add some themei...

Re: The Walking Dead: The Ride - New for 2018

My quick review/summary: TWDTR is where we headed straight away (so to avoid the inevitable queues later on in the day). We were near the frontish of the queue, about 4 or 5 batches went in before problems started, we were told some 'essential maintenance work' needed to be carried out - this result...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

I don't get why they would shut the rapids so randomly without notice? Guessing its to cut down costs on staff, but it seems silly having it shut for fright nights as its probably the best water ride out of the lot to go on at night (you don't really want to get wet at night).  Could they be renovat...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

Hey, Quick random question. I've always noticed that Tidal Wave doesn't really 'float' like say a log flume does, it's just wheels on metal, and sometimes you can visibly see it going round without the water on the drop. However when it reaches the bottom I believe it uses the water as its brakes, ...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

Went yesterday, glad I didn't go today, looks like they are having terrible problems with the weather - all rides apart from derren brown/x look to be shut (not sure how the dodgems are effected by the wind?). Found this by the clown tent, is this a clue for whats coming next year? (said 'O? 2018') ...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

Anyone know what's going on with Rush? Seems to have been shut for a long time. Also have they actually started removing any parts of Slammer yet? Or could they change their mind and re-open it.

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train

Went on this twice the other day, it seems the tube headlights that come towards you, in the midway 'live' part are broken, it was working fine in July when I last went. The VR worked great the first time (although it seems the quality has slightly decreased a bit? Might just be my imaginati...

Re: Oblivion - Now sponsored by Fanta

The big poster seems to now have been completely removed from what I could see today, just a white painted wall. (Looked like it had been taken off and not painted over).

Re: Interesting Wardley Sightings

I was there today, and we noticed 2 groups of people wearing suits holding documents up and checking the area around Katanga Canyon. I managed to catch a glimpse of one of the documents and it did indeed look like a planning document (similar to the ones for thirteen), although I'm guessing this cou...

Re: University Choices 2011

So does this take into account my as level I did as well? If it does then I worked out I'l only need CCD or something, so this will be my insurance..although I've probably done something wrong. Leeds, I didn't like the uni at my interview, so won't be going there, just got to somehow choose between...

Re: University Choices 2011

Also got an 'informal' interview for sheffield, but at the bottom of the email ...
