Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

I think a major part of the public's disappointment is the fact that going on, they have no idea what to expect, and then the actual ride element comes along, which is a few seconds at most, and that's it.

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

Let's hope they continue making little improvements then! :) Going on track record... They won't. I don't feel for Alton one bit... they decide and plan what new attractions are going in. Where has my magic gone  :( Clearly though, for a medium investment, they've put a fair amount of effort i...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

I feel for Alton Towers here, I fear this may be another Th13teen, at least with the public, early reviews aren't particularly great :(

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

Edit : Dom - with regards Hex, lets remember here that Hex is a very complex ride, the drum speed, rotation, the angle of the swing, must all be sync.  The ride lasts about a minute and it does work very well.  Combined with the atmosphere, music, lighting etc, Hex is a great success.&nbs...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

A "whole package" attraction is fine, but the core element has to be able to deliver. I see everyone on here raving about Hex, but that is a "whole package" ride too. The actual system itself is extremely mediocre at best, but the experience and the "whole package" mak...

Re: SPOILERS - 2012: Nemesis Sub-Terra...

I've read quite a lot of positive things on twitter.

I can imagine in those sorts of conditions, it will actually be quite scary.

Re: 2012: Nemesis Sub-Terra... Part 2

we've lost nothing and gained a new dark ride Exactly. This is the bottom line.:) But let's not pretend for one second this will be the new Hex. How do you know that though, people are allowed to get excited about it. I agree that it's bad to over-hype things, but no-ones pretending this is on a Di...

Re: 2012: Nemesis Sub-Terra... Part 2

You need to have a QR Scanner on your mobile phone to take part in the 'mission'. It's basically like a QR Hunt, where you walk around looking for a QR code on different buildings in Forbidden Valley. I'm guessing the last code is a secret picture or something similar to this. Has anyone found out ...

I think it looks good actually, fits as some sort of temporary military-style base.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Appears to be a mish-mash of The SWARM and SAW, and although I'm sure they can make it look good, I do think that it lacks a bit of creativity.

That said, the Spider-Robot thing looks awesome, seems like they're intent on the 'machines' theme from a few years back, which is in no way a bad thing!

What? I thought we'd be getting something completely new?

It doesn't take an idiot to work out that the 'scrambled' picture is a few workmen working on one of Drop Towers! :P

I think some people are going to be disappointed.

So presuming the lifts are fake, and the towers are top-loaded...

Are we to assume that one of the ideas of the ride is to trick riders into thinking it's a bottom-loaded drop tower, and then surprise them by dropping rather than rising?

I would love that, might certainly shock a few people!

Re: 2012: Nemesis Sub-Terra... Part 2

How are people meant to go about boarding the ride, if it is top-boarding?

Or am I missing something really obvious..

That first drop is steep. I think Khan will still look OK because it has loops. But looking at the two of them together, is there any better expression of B&M's newfound ambition and sense of purpose? :D

Re: New on-park restaurant ideas?

I'd personally like to see restaurants that actually fit in with that areas theme, or at least look like they're meant to be there. The pizza place in Katanga actually fits in with theme of the area, whereas the Fish & Chips outlet has no place in Forbidden Valley. The food at Disney is pretty b...

Re: The Th13teen Concept...

Great post! :) I like Th13teen, once you get past the fact it is a family coaster, it is, as you put it, an extremely unique experience. Other than that I think the way Alton Towers implemented the actual ride is near perfect and I think more people should see it that way, the only reason they don't...
