Re: Liseberg

I'm fine with the vests on Swarm, and didn't notice any difference on Gatekeeper (I can't say I've noticed the tightening thing anyway). Just thought they took all the fun out of Valravn, personally.

Re: Liseberg

This does look really good. I'm unsurprised but disappointed that they use the modern vest-style restraints though. While they work well on wingriders, I found them to be too restrictive on Valravn.

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

I'm struggling to understand why a GCI woody with a fairly straight forward lay-out is having so many technical issues. You can understand it with new tech (like with Air), but it seems a bit baffling that they're having so many issues with this. Apparently it is overshooting, every time it does th...

Re: Europa Park

I rode Woden during the winter season and it was as smooth as any wooden rollercoaster I've ever ridden. It must be preventative retracking rather than reactive. I rode it back in October and found the opposite tbh. It was fun, but got quite banged up on it. I've never been a fan of the GCI lateral...

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach

I have so much more hype for Icon than Wicker Man. Regardless of theme, it's still a Mack Megacoaster vs a GCI woody, and there just isn't really much of a comparison for me.

That being said, how great is it to have 2 big coaster projects in the UK in the same year?

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Tesco tried this when their 'something for everyone' policy backfired. It made things worse for a while before they started rebounding. It also happened to American Adventure and  Pleasureland Southport. Within a few years both closed down. Merlin are big enough to weather this storm in the same w...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

If you have not already visited Europa park, then I urge you to do so.  It's the best park in Europe IMO, the rides run like clockwork and the theming is amazing.  It will open your eyes to how short-changed we are at ALL the Merlin parks in the UK.   Agreed. And if anyone is concerned about the pr...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

They are, rightly, taking an absolute battering on social media. One thing I've learnt from years of retail management is that you can't take the mick out of your paying customers and expect to get away with it. If they don't back track to some degree, I think it'll almost certainly either impact on...

Re: Cedar Point

I know that there are definitely similar posts to this further back in this topic but has anyone done a trip from the UK (preferably from one of the London airports) that could tell me a little about how they arranged flights  and how long they stayed, also if they did any other parks etc Thanks in...

El Toro is a better version of it all round, so take a flight to New Jersey and ride some other world class coasters while you are there :)

Already done that twice ;) I like a bit of variety.

Re: Heide Park

I'd also be gutted to see Colossos go. Never ridden it, or been to Heide park, but it was, for me, the big selling point for a visit. Especially as I adore the Intamin pre-fab model, with El Toro being my favourite coaster.

Re: Liseberg

Liseberg is definitely one of my 'must visit' parks. Valkyria looks fun, but presumably it'll have the same modern vest restraints as Valrayvn, which personally I found far too restrictive for a dive coaster.

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

I don't think it's the TapuTapu that's the issue, it's just the park is incredibly popular. Even without the Tapu Tapu you'd still have to wait 3 hours but in a queue line as opposed to in the lazy rivers etc. I don't quite think Universal were expecting that Volcano Bay would be such a huge hit, i...

Re: PortAventura/ Ferrari Land - August 2017

Attraction Tickets Direct are fine, used them before, but I would agree with the guy above and buy direct from the PA website. I'd recommend getting in the main park early and doing Shambhala and Khan, then heading across to Ferrari Land around lunchtime. Everyone rushes there first, so if you time ...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

Horrible accident, and can totally understand why KMG are stopping operation on similar models to cover themselves. I'm fairly sure these will resume operation fairly quickly though as the incident in Ohio does seem to be a fairly open and shut case of poor maintenance / upkeep from the fair, rather...

Re: Walt Disney World - Disney's Animal Kingdom

So, my view of Pandora - having visited the section of the park twice during my visit, is this: It's a great themed area, however it shows how far Disney are behind Universal right now. Pandora is impressive where Diagon Alley is jaw-dropping. That's the difference. A great addition to Animal Kingdo...

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned previously, but Universal no longer allow ANY items to be taken in your pockets on their big rollercoasters, and have set up metal detection scanners on entry to Hulk, Dragon's Challenge etc.

Re: Fun Spot America Theme Parks

Looks quite cool, but $9 is a bit expensive in my opinion! How many rides are you getting?!! $9, roughly equivelant to £7, is hardly loads for a coaster of this magnitude at a pay-per-ride park in a tourist hotspot. Given that White Lightning over at Orlando and Kissimmee's own Wild Mouse, which ar...
