Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

I'd say it won because it is actually quite an impressive attraction underneath it all. Its a very technical attraction and I would say it actually deserves to recognized for it. I won't deny its had issues, but it is getting a lot better. Given that a lot of the technology has either never been us...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

Without wanting to sound too negative, I’m not sure how an attraction that has constant technical issues and almost never has every aspect of the experience working can win an Outstanding Achievement Award :-k

I'm wondering where this guy is gonna go? He's pretty big anyway but I have no idea where they could put him.

I could see him being part of the ride entrance structure and that we’ll walk under him as we enter the queue line.

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

As others have already said, it does seem that Merlin are trying to push more people to go for the Premium pass over Standard. As a Premium passholder I don’t have an issue with a £10 price increase. With the amount of use that I get out of my pass over the course of the season it represents fantast...

Re: Towers Loving Care

The bins were removed from The Smiler's queue line earlier this season, unofficially to do with the heightened threat of attack on the country at the time. They were never completely put back but a few were placed back in towards the end of the season. The queue is cleaned at the beginning and end ...

Re: Ride pin badges

I came away with 4 Fireworks pins (one for myself) One of the badges is for another community member who didn’t manage to pick one up and the other two are for members of family. I struggle to understand why only 900 were produced (if your source of information is correct) when they were expecting a...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

I think it really is ridiculous that they have to close one hotel because they can’t fill it yet they keep building hotels!? That’s Merlin for you. We can hope that Splash may be getting some sort of major overhaul but I think we all know it’ll just be sitting there until a week before it’s due to ...

Re: Fireworks

I was very impressed with this years display. In terms of a visual spectacle it ranks as my favourite show of the three I’ve seen at Towers but in terms of storyline/theme then 2015 still has my top spot. I really liked how they got Wardley involved and got real fans of the park to give their best m...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

And I'm sure some of us will be making our way to the hotels over the winter season, so could possibly see things in the parking lots or storage areas.. similar to when The Smiler trains were on the car park, (is that right? My memory is rubbish), could have the same thing this year! The Smiler tra...

Re: SW8 Area Speculation and Discussion

Has nobody considered the possibility that they have Gloomy extended to the point of SW8 and Duel, so all that land in between can be for other attractions? The flume area with the second lift could easily house another flat ride as the trees are rather tall in this area. That won’t happen. One of ...

This years Fireworks event is seemingly very close to selling out (this includes MAP pre-bookings) The Fireworks page on the Alton Towers website has the following information for Annual Passholders: All Merlin Annual Passes are valid for Fireworks without restriction, however we strongly advise gue...

Re: SW8 Speculation and General Discussion

I don’t disagree that they would be scraping the barrel, but I think that could explain ‘world-beating’ to enthusiasts without the public being particularly interesting I understand your point but at no point during the construction period and marketing campaign for SW8 have they so much as mention...

Re: SW8 Speculation and General Discussion

Just wondering what someone else might think of this... After watching the NL2 mock-ups of this ride it seems a little tame/slow in places, so could AT have designed a ‘worlds fastest chain lift’, would classify as world-beating but wouldn’t interest the public largely They would really be scraping...

interesting that you'd say a regular guest Dan, I'd have put money on it being a staff member.

Having watched it again and paid more attention, it does appear to be a member of staff.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwNzmK9jXFQ&t=191s  (skip to about 2:55) Do they do this every evening? I hadn't seen it before, and can't find any other videos of this happening, but surely it would ruin your day if just got randomly chosen, or, is it fixed?    Haven't seen anyone else mention...

Re: ScareMazing 2017 - Reviews & Feedback

SMN was great. That is all :lol The BTS tours were very interesting (I certainly didn't realise House of Monsters is essentially a wooden box) and it was a nice opportunity to wander round Sub Species with the lights on. The talk about SW8 was very interesting and it gave a great insight into the ti...
