Re: Christmas & New Year at The Resort

I’ve never visited Alton outside of the main theme park season (with the exception of FHT when that was still a theme park event) but I’ve always wanted to experience the resort at Christmas time. From photos that I’ve seen over the years it looks so much more magical than normal but I do think they...

Re: X:\ No Way Out

I’m not the biggest fan of The Walking Dead or X so this project doesn’t really interest me that much. That being said, the fact this retheme will have an IP attached to it virtually guarantees the theming will be of high quality so I am looking forward to seeing what it looks like but it’s not top ...

Re: SW8 Speculation and General Discussion

Given that testing was meant to start in December I would be very surprised if the trains weren’t on site already.

Given the location of SW8 in the park there won’t have been the need to crane them onto the track in the same obvious way the Smilers were.

Re: SW8 Speculation and General Discussion

The opening line of “it is done” suggests to me that either the theming structure or the ride itself is finished.

I really am loving these teasers and I can’t wait for the full announcement, whenever that may be.

Re: X:\ No Way Out

Of course being a massive X fan I'm very sad about this (rave coaster wooo), but hopefully it'll be good. I think having an indoor horror ride next to an indoor horror ride may be a bit much and I would've preferred a revamped X with better lights, theming and audio. RIP X, forever in our hearts ;_...

Re: Rita - General Discussion

Rita is my least favourite coaster out of the Big Six at Alton.

The launch is ok but nothing in comparison to Stealth and for the most part it’s very rattly which makes it unenjoyable.

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

I'd say it won because it is actually quite an impressive attraction underneath it all. Its a very technical attraction and I would say it actually deserves to recognized for it. I won't deny its had issues, but it is getting a lot better. Given that a lot of the technology has either never been us...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

Without wanting to sound too negative, I’m not sure how an attraction that has constant technical issues and almost never has every aspect of the experience working can win an Outstanding Achievement Award :-k

I could see him being part of the ride entrance structure and that we’ll walk under him as we enter the queue line.

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

As others have already said, it does seem that Merlin are trying to push more people to go for the Premium pass over Standard. As a Premium passholder I don’t have an issue with a £10 price increase. With the amount of use that I get out of my pass over the course of the season it represents fantast...

Re: Towers Loving Care

The bins were removed from The Smiler's queue line earlier this season, unofficially to do with the heightened threat of attack on the country at the time. They were never completely put back but a few were placed back in towards the end of the season. The queue is cleaned at the beginning and end ...

Re: Ride pin badges

I came away with 4 Fireworks pins (one for myself) One of the badges is for another community member who didn’t manage to pick one up and the other two are for members of family. I struggle to understand why only 900 were produced (if your source of information is correct) when they were expecting a...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

I think it really is ridiculous that they have to close one hotel because they can’t fill it yet they keep building hotels!? That’s Merlin for you. We can hope that Splash may be getting some sort of major overhaul but I think we all know it’ll just be sitting there until a week before it’s due to ...

Re: Fireworks

I was very impressed with this years display. In terms of a visual spectacle it ranks as my favourite show of the three I’ve seen at Towers but in terms of storyline/theme then 2015 still has my top spot. I really liked how they got Wardley involved and got real fans of the park to give their best m...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

And I'm sure some of us will be making our way to the hotels over the winter season, so could possibly see things in the parking lots or storage areas.. similar to when The Smiler trains were on the car park, (is that right? My memory is rubbish), could have the same thing this year! The Smiler tra...

The Smiler is on 4 trains today.
