Re: Duel - General Discussion

Well with regards to this season the ride has generally been brilliant, and the best it has been for years! But is it perfect? Not yet. I'd say all the changes made to the themeing this season have been great, and have improved the ride no end, proving that the themeing is essential to making a good...

It wasn't playing yesterday :( Just the new ITHOMK in the hotel station, and nothing in Towers Street (Both audio and video)

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

A controlled spinning coaster then essentially? :P

;)

Personally, I think it's highly unlikely any of the exterior section of this ride will take place in reverse. The forces will just be too much and spoil it.

Re: Strange Coasters

Montaña Rusa Infantil Parque de la Ciudad So what makes this ride strange? How about the fact the track has no ties! http://cache.rcdb.com/gkf04pk42u7001jk4uhr3i.jpg http://cache.rcdb.com/hgr449j7o5sc0017c9t3m7.jpg http://cache.rcdb.com/8063g009r2f8thp108ns1f.jpg Only Intamin :P

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

As James has just said, the manufacturer is confirmed by the noise report. Regardless of what type of document the name is in it specifically says "the same manufacturer as SAW: The Ride" :)

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I think there is some confusion by what Chris is describing here. Some of us are describing the grey sort of box which runs along the floor of the ride area, directly in front of the 3 remaining supports from the tent, while others are describing the queueline archways, similar to the one found in t...

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

With regards to the train throughput is almost always linked to the number of trains or capacity of the ride. Not enough results in low throughput. Too much on a coaster can also harm throughput though. However, in Drayton's case I think it's that they simply don't get enough in the first place. G-F...

It was either part of the old queueline or the run up to the spiral lift I believe :)

Does anyone know where I can find the vertical elevator for the PEP MH Blitz track, and some instructions on how to install it :)

Re: The Future of The Flume

After riding the Flume for the first time this season a few weeks back I personally think the ride is in dire need of attention if Towers are to make it last. There seemed to be water leaking from all over the ride, with quite a few holes in the channel at various points. The whole ride felt like it...

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

The main difference being that Chessington is ran by a worldwide entertainments provider (Second only to Disney I'll have you know ;) ) and while they do undoubtedly receive a meager budget it is almost certain to be more than that of Drayton Manor. Also, I'm pretty sure I've heard of other parks wh...

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

At the end of the day it's marketing and publicity, pure and simple. Sure, it's a fun and quirky idea, and they will no doubt honor it if the situation ever arises, but at least it's a good, clean, family friendly marketing stunt. No prostitutes or Speedos here :P Plus, while we're on the subject of...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Depending on what happens inside it could happen either way around. Logic would say that they will construct a frame for the building and probably drape it in tarps to hide what they are building inside. It's a quick and cost effective way to hide what is being installed, without over complicating t...

Re: Rain....

It's not normal for any ride to close at Towers as a result of a bit of rain. However, if accompanied by a thunderstorm, lightening, hail, or incredibly high winds some of the attractions will be affected and possibly close. It is rare though at Towers, and this year has been on of the main anomalie...

Any I believe. I'm pretty sure the sequencing is done at random by the ride computers from what I've heard :)

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

I do believe that in this instance the ride was going to have something done regardless. Alton Towers management were not at all satisfied with what was delivered, as it quite simply didn't meet their brief. On and around opening day several members of senior management were heard discussing the rid...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

If Towers don't want people to know rides have broken down then why would they have gone to the expense of recording special breakdown announcements for most of their attractions, and for some even have them programmed to play automatically when the ride detects a problem? :P It's basic customer ser...
