Re: Scarefest - General Discussion

It so hard to chose, as each year has brilliant elements and, each maze they've unveiled has been really good. I think the challenge with comparing mazes between the years is so hard, is that there can be a variation between consecutive runs in same year! I do look back over the years, and remember ...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

I wonder why the default position of charging for entertainment based attractions (excluding CBeebies). When you think what is spent on the purchase, running and staffing of rides, can you avoid upcharges, and fund it from the ticket price, like with  Sea-life. I think the introduction of a  Dungeon...

Seems the interchangeable panels say "maximum" before the respective number:

Ah, I guess that's one way of doing it!
It seems an odd way of writing it, doesn't scan well; "People per boat maximum 7"

Still does the job though!

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

I'm a little apprehensive about the addition, and I think one of things I'm struggling with, is that I can't imagine the facade, particularly if it is for CCL /  CatCF. So I'm puzzling to imagine how that might work, CCL is very bright, and it would be a big contrast. And so it's the uncertainty of ...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

I wonder why they've done "People per boat", rather than "Maximum people per boat".

I could potentially see that causing some confusion

Re: The 'How busy will it be?' Topic

Hi Guys, Does anyone have any suggestions for the best time to head up to AT for Scarefest this year? Me and a few mates are planning to come up from Brighton for a couple of days for our first Scarefest. I'm guessing its going to be pretty packed regardless but any help would be much appreciated! ...

Re: Scarefest - General Discussion

Where do people think this will be, assuming Sub's queue is in a similar location.

Courtyard garden, Conservatory/connecting room, front of the Towers, Fountain Square?

Re: Scarefest - General Discussion

So reading the Scarefest website, and it could just be i'm reading more than what is actually there but this line:  Our multi award winning scare mazes have been re-scarified for this year and we are adding another NEW maze to the line up Does this hint that we could potentially see a few changes t...

Re: 2015-2019: Possible Developments?

Personally, like many other people, I would like to see something happen with the previous Ripsaw site. With all the new concepts Merlin could choose from, it would be nice to finally have a ride back there. Ripsaw was a fantastic compact ride that had a great impact on that area (and my shoulders/...

I can't imagine that'll be the case - there might still be the elevator element, but I doubt the drop portion will be making a return,

Re: ‘Stargazing Pods’ Accommodation Discussion

I honestly think the SMDC have got this decision very wrong here. The "improved" designs don't have that same magic that previous developments at Alton Towers had, wether the council managed to see something  in them or not, they definitely don't resemble the magic of prior developments a...

Re: Scarefest

Hi, never been to a scarefest but seen some previous posts talking about Extreme mazes and Alone mazes. What do these mean? Also where was Sub Species Lockdown based? You should definitely give Scarefest a try one year, Alton do have some great mazes! Some years Alton Towers offer "extreme&quo...

Re: 2015-2019: Possible Developments?

Rather than 'Walliams World' (sorry Lewis), how about... Storybook Land!? Could even have a giant bookworm! I do really like the idea of a book themed land, the Ice Age facade being the town library, hosting a story-book narrated show. Perhaps something that balances entertainment with something edu...

Really good news, whilst having not attempting it in the first place would have prevented reputational harm, it is at least a strong sign that they were willing to look again. I suspect the fact it was starting to gain mainstream news coverage (although local), and was eroding the impact of the SW8 ...

...Perhaps their bizarre plans have something to do with how the Wicker Man area will flow, so are sticking to them for that reason? Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Whilst they have done staggered opening before, they've either been mostly water-rides or have still been controversial! I think the line "this year is no different" is poor choose of words, because it can be misinterpreted to mean the same staggered times as last year - which isn't true! ...

Does anyone have any suggestions of what would be feasible additions to the water park that could be added without too great an space/engineering challenge?
