Re: ‘Stargazing Pods’ Accommodation Discussion

I honestly think the SMDC have got this decision very wrong here. The "improved" designs don't have that same magic that previous developments at Alton Towers had, wether the council managed to see something  in them or not, they definitely don't resemble the magic of prior developments a...

Re: Scarefest

Hi, never been to a scarefest but seen some previous posts talking about Extreme mazes and Alone mazes. What do these mean? Also where was Sub Species Lockdown based? You should definitely give Scarefest a try one year, Alton do have some great mazes! Some years Alton Towers offer "extreme&quo...

Re: 2015-2019: Possible Developments?

Rather than 'Walliams World' (sorry Lewis), how about... Storybook Land!? Could even have a giant bookworm! I do really like the idea of a book themed land, the Ice Age facade being the town library, hosting a story-book narrated show. Perhaps something that balances entertainment with something edu...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Really good news, whilst having not attempting it in the first place would have prevented reputational harm, it is at least a strong sign that they were willing to look again. I suspect the fact it was starting to gain mainstream news coverage (although local), and was eroding the impact of the SW8 ...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

...Perhaps their bizarre plans have something to do with how the Wicker Man area will flow, so are sticking to them for that reason? It's entirely possible that they've announced these times to keep people on that side of the park in the morning for a better appearance of guest numbers in the early...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Whilst they have done staggered opening before, they've either been mostly water-rides or have still been controversial! I think the line "this year is no different" is poor choose of words, because it can be misinterpreted to mean the same staggered times as last year - which isn't true! ...

Does anyone have any suggestions of what would be feasible additions to the water park that could be added without too great an space/engineering challenge?

Re: February Half Term - Pirates and Princesses

Muffin? Muffin!? Lady Muffin!? Lady... ... ... MUFFIN! Love this idea of seeing The Kidnap of Lady Victoria Sponge again, would have been great to see it back in the Mutiny Bay Courtyard during the main season, but hey-ho . I've done the pirate weekends before and they have been good fun, still not ...

Re: Nemesis - General Discussion

Nemesis has definitely had it's quiet days this season, although there is a lot to be said for it's reliability and efficiency in terms of riders per hour. It's unfortunate that on most of my trips the queue didn't make it past the fastrack gate. I'm sure the late opening is purely down to predicted...

Re: Fireworks

Out of curiosity in previous years where did this set-up control for the Fireworks be? Behind HB Leisure's giant football darts (near the marquee), nestled in the bushes is a small building which they've been using. There's no line of sight, so effectively they'd be running blind (although still sa...

Re: CBeebies Land Hotel

If you've not been yet, the hotel restaurants are not far apart (except for Rollercoaster Restaurant as this is on park).
For grown up food its likely Secret Garden or Crooked Spoon, or the premium Emperors Grill.

Be interested to hear your thoughts on your stay

Re: Scarefest

There has been some suggestions that MAP discount is available on the day Also there is normally a quota held back to sell on the day - so make your way to box office on arrival! Obviously to guarantee entry/time book online, but you may pay more. If doing The Welcoming it's worth waiting for dark (...

Re: Scarefest

Hearing things to suggest at least one of the mazes has had a soft opening.

Staff previews are Thursday so might start seeing a bit more information coming out.
