Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

Just seen some great closeups of the wicker man,  He truly looks fantastic.  I'd post the pics but it looks like they were taken from a drone. Lovely 4K zoom -ns though!  Will look spectacular with flames licking its sides!

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

Is the location of the camera, for the on-ride photo, on the plans?  Would be great having the on-ride photo aimed at the centre on the wicker mans chest but I'm guessing whatever fire effects they have in place will obscure the view.  Glad to hear John Wardley was on hand, making adjustments.

Re: Scarefest

Thanks Justin.  Ah, so you have 2 hours from the time you select to visit the mazes.  Thanks for clearing that up.

Re: Scarefest

Hi everyone. I am booking tickets for next Saturday.  I understand why you have to choose times for the scare mazes but how come there is only one time to select when booking the 3 mazes ticket.  Surely there should be 3 times to choose, one for each maze.  I ask this because you have to select a se...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I agree.  If the smiler is down, then they at least need to make sure everything else is open. Its a hard one.  Concentrate on the smiler or get the quick fixes out of the way on the other rides. Either way, people will still be unhappy, but the latter i suppose, less unhappy. Difficult di...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I'm such a big fan of AT.  But my visit yesterday was sooo disappointing.  I have never seen so many rides break down. Obviously you know the smiler and blivy were closed.  But Rita also had downtime along with sonic.  Also after seeing a notice board saying air was back open, we...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Just found this on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mv4wTdSo0xc Its a great vid of on and off ride shots.  But it also shows a rollback at the end of the video. Its strange though.  The vid says it is 9 mins 58 secs long but it goes on longer after the slider has gone to the end, so ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Does the innoculator get you wet?  Was it even working?, not seen any pics of that yet.
Are there spiraling lights in the tunnel like the TV advert?
Can't wait to ride her ;)

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

How many trains do you think they will have running when it opens?
Do you think they will duel from the get go or do you think they will do one train at a time so it can settle in and sort out potential 'teething' problems?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Agreed, we need some more pics.  I know we've seen everything but I just can't get enough of them.  Gets me excited!  And a good fix before the reviews and POV's start coming in. Would also like to see some more testing vids of the marmaliser effects. I know this may be a stupid quest...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Someone tweeted AT earlier asking whether they should cancel/change their hotel booking for this sat regarding the smiler.

they replied
"we'd say wait for at least a day or so, you can postpone anytime before your visit should you need to"

Sounds promising?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I have to admit, that 'gesture' in the pic on twitter made me smile more than the command on the poster :)
Excellent pic.

Do you think they'll have to push it beyond 240 mins when it opens?  Has 'an agreed upon' capacity per hour been speculated?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

It's such a shame the discussion has gone a tad bitter, to put it mildly.  I'm not going until next month but I was so looking forward to reading some feedback and reviews of the ride from all you guys. Now I've got to wait till Tuesday until some excitement is injected into the forum again.&nb...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I agree about the shutters Barty.  Possible 3d mapping effects projected onto it?

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Just watched the new pov vid.  On the video, just as the pov bit starts from the station, the dark entrance to the first roll looks to me like it might have a sliding door mechanism like 13.  Maybe the preshow is in here with possible 3d effects etc on the door in front of you and surround...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

If this is a dueling coaster am I right in thinking that both trains will have to be synced to drop from the top of the lift hill at the same time? If this is true, I assume the longer, first lift hill, will take longer to ascend compared to the vertical lift.  Could that mean that a reverse dr...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Hi Haven't posted since 13 but just wanted to say the following. Can't both opinions about the fins be correct? Maybe the fins can provide a faster, updated evacuation procedure whilst also presenting the added benefit of a reverse freefall drop. I have little knowledge of the logistics and design o...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

I have just got back from Alton Towers today.  Great day and I was amazed to experience riding Hex alone with two of my friends, weird, but great being a cult fan. I love, and hope to continue to love AT as it has given me much joy, excitement and exhilaration in the 22 years I have been visiti...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

If new effects are being added then there's a chance this could be good.  I think its funny how some of the bad reviewers now seem to be angry that the ride might get better.  There's nothing worse than not having something to complain about.  Not riding it till Wednesday.  If it...
