Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

I can't work this out from AT FAQ pages, or from memory.  I know the bring a friend vouchers in the MAP pack are eligible ERT as I used one last week, but are Friend & Family Tickets?

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

Okay. Topic changer here. I've heard from members of another forum that much of the smoke / mist effects around the rides tunnels haven't been working properly recently, meaning in the pre-lift hill tunnel, you can see the concrete walls and lighting, and not as much mist in the other tunnels aroun...

Re: Ride Downtime

Wicker Man took until 11AM to get going this morning, It was still in the hands of Tech Services at 10:30AM.  It also had a brief stoppage around 3.30PM.

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

No rides whatsoever today.  https://twitter.com/altontowers/status/974945628336852992 Despite this clearly being a result of conditions and not the park this time around, trying to ride The Smiler on opening day put me off that idea for Wickerman some time ago, although credit to them for how this p...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

I love the poster for SW8, However the 'World's First Rollercoaster experience fusing fire and wood' is absolutely hilarious. Absolutely.  https://timedotcom.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/colossus-coaster-fire_wong.jpg?quality=85 Although Twisted Colossus did come out of that..... In all serious, it'...

Re: The Future Of Th13teen

Same thing as above really, it's a fun overall ride experiance, despite the horrific marketing strategy, I think that's been forgotten now. If anything if there was a way they could extend the outdoor ride layout or improve it so that last section wasn't so slow, the weakest part of the ride is the ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I have two problems with these types of reports. The phrase "broken down" is thrown around like leftover food, a ride stopping for safety reasons, manual or automatically is the ride functioning correctly. I want it to stop and allow me to get off in an appropriately safe place if the ride...

Having just visited Efteling last week "UK best themed" really doesn't set high expectations for me anymore.

Re: Efteling

My understanding is they are open over winter as stated above, but they close a couple a days of the week for maintenance, etc. It's now into the busiest time of the year for them. July 29th was the last "yellow" colour marked day on their Calendar. I just made my first visit last week, it...

Re: Efteling

So I made my first ever European theme park visit on Friday 29th, I'll write a longer opinion post later but for now a couple of pics of Symbolica I took while I was there. Overall, a very enjoyable visit, expectations exceeded. https://s19.postimg.org/7sqsmxe8f/DSC_0413.jpg https://s19.postimg.org/...

Re: If you owned Thorpe Park, what would you do with it?

The first thing, refurbish Colossus. Great layout, decent theming, awful painful experience. I just avoid this now. At the very least update the trains.

The new lap bars trains with the pulley lifts that the latest versions of these look so much more pleasant.

I believe they are replacing the speakers inside, hopefully bringing it back up to a decent volume.

I thought they did that for last years opening, with the whole change of direction, installation of lights etc. It's quite loud. Night club loud.

Re: SW8

SW coasters have a history of being world's first, ground breakers etc. With the current layout and lightning rod already being the first launched woodie, I struggle to see how this is going to live up to the SW name. (Im not denying this is not going to be a good a coaster) Personally, I think Mer...

Re: SW8

Once it uses LIMs isn't it automatically a launched coaster, after that it's just a question of how fast the launch is. By definition of the word "launched", opposed to being lifted up/pulled up, yes, it is a launch. It's a discharge of energy, to hurl, to set in motion, to send. The spee...

Re: SW8

I see other people have also mentioned the feasibility it would be a RMC. I would be extremely happy if it was a RMC Hybrid, bridging the old and modern worlds in such a wonderful way. In terms of the closest thing to it, purely for the LSM launch feature, it would have to be Dollywood, Lightning Ro...

The plans do look "simple", but it can conceal a lot when you are playing by the rules of a planning by the rules of a planning applications, i.e inversions.

*Crosses Fingers* RMC Hybrid!

Re: SW8

I suppose there is point waiting for the day when Merlin pull their ego out of their back side and stop obsessing with this "worlds first" culture. They are perfectly capable of just making a good coaster. Dollywood were getting the first launched woodie but that's been delayed. I suppose ...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

For those quite passionately debating the merits of pre-rendered footage against why it's likely not to be pre-rendered, I will point out it is possible to have both statements to be true about content, not only possible but already used a in the entertainment industry, especially concerts. Content ...
