Re: Blackpool Central - 2019-2029

I saw a glimpse of a powered inverted coaster in the video, that got me interested, hopefully it's not just there as "this is what an indoor rollercoaster looks like". A flying theatre is great too. A place that you can spend a whole day at without leaving would help bring people spending ...

Re: Tokyo Disney Resort

Jesus those animatronics are impressive, so glad they're not just relying on projection mapping faces.  Up to 50 people in a scene at a time, Disney are definitely trying to make sure their rides have plenty of capacity (which is great given the crowds). Interesting they've gone with the original an...

Re: Winter Wonderland - Hyde Park London

Spent a couple of hours in it this evening, didn't really get to do too many rides because of who I was with. First time I've ever been but it's easily the best travelling fair I've ever seen and all the rides were in a condition that puts so dubious fairs to shame. Had a good time overall. A few ne...

Re: SW9

I never understood why people thought that washing machine thing likely to happen. Slowly rotating upside down when stationary wouldn't be terribly thrilling or comfortable.

Re: Parc Asterix

Won’t the LSM’s be changing polarity to launch in both directions? So they would double up as an emergengy brake won’t they? Can’t wait for this, or the new walabi coaster, both are gonna be amazing by the looks of things. The polarity will determine which direction they accelerate I believe. When ...

Re: Parc Asterix

A track switch on a high speed section without holding brakes either side is extremely impressive if they pull it off with good reliability.

Wonder what the emergency braking will be like for when theres a fault detected on the switch

Re: Walt Disney World - Epcot

Official confirmation from Disney confirming the ride system and showing it in action https://twitter.com/CaitlinDineen/status/1062716572001755136 As I thought, the weight of the vehicles looks like it smooths out drops. will probably end up much milder than crush's coaster but the controlled spinni...

New ride type from Dynamic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeRhHO_9I-A

A more advanced version of the Test Track ride system. I would love for this to come to the UK but can't see Merlin Splashing out on a large scale dark ride any time soon.

Re: Walt Disney World - Disney's Hollywood Studios

Still admire what they've done with the slinky coaster. People who's limit are Runaway mine train level coasters get to experience a full on launch coaster (even if it's a mild launch) They could probably get the rides from DLP added quite quickly as they're simple and have a small footprint. Their ...

Re: Walt Disney World - Disney's Hollywood Studios

Going to be going to California next year so I should be able to see that version of Star Wars.

Wonder when we're going to hear more about what's involved in the battlefield show/ride

Re: Walt Disney World - Disney's Animal Kingdom

210 minutes when the parks are quietening down between Halloween and Thankgiving is scary. Does it at least eat up some of the queue times from the Safari and Expedition Everest? I dread to think what the queues will be like in Hollywood Studios when Star Wars Land opens. From what I've been reading...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

Someone with their own money in the project has more of a motivation to get things moviing (rather than sitting in an office doing the bare minimum to not have the project abandoned whilst collecting a salary)

I genuinely didn't know that existed. That's pretty neat.

Monkey Island was originally going to be a Pirates of the Caribbean game but they couldn't get the rights. Ironically, LucasArts are owned by Disney now.

Re: Alton Towers Resort Future - General Discussion & Wishes

Alton has its faults, but I am a firm believer it is actually what you make of each visit. People are quick to complain, but when you take a step back, it is a beautiful park with some great attractions. I think some areas need work to bring them up to standard, but hopefully TLC will continue to s...

Re: Walt Disney World - Epcot

The drop in Gringotts barely gives any sensation when in theory a tilt track should feel worse than a normal drop (as you don't get that lag in acceleration caused by front cars pulling rear cars over the apex). You do get a lot of force from the launch though so I suspect you'll only get a high spe...

Re: Walt Disney World - Epcot

There's some pictures of the track floating around. Pretty much confirms its using that spinning coaster prototype that was in testing a while back. Looking at how chunky the tracks are, seems like the coaster cars are going to be very heavy which is probably one of the reasons for using a long laun...

Re: Industry Talk

More patents, this time from universal http://universal.wdwinfo.com/multiple-new-ride-systems-could-make-their-way-into-universal-parks/ The LED system for harnesses seems like a good idea in theory but in practice I don't think it would save any time. I think you're still going to need a manual che...

Re: Industry Talk

Almost certainly for Guardians of the Galaxy based on what's rumoured about the ride. Will allow the coaster to go a lot faster than Gringotts can whilst in a controlled spin. Not a massive fan of broad patents like these, would have thought charging a powered coaster ride via induction chargers was...

Re: Merlin General Discussion

Growth or large dividends are the big drivers for share price.  Where's the growth going to come from for Merlin? The Midway attractions aren't proving massive money spinners, you can only build so many Legolands. I'm not sure any UK parks can truly achieve a resort like Universal or Disneyworld tha...
