Re: Universal Orlando Resort

A million and one rumours floating around at the moment. Most concrete one is the Jurassic coaster  https://www.themeparkinsider.com/flume/201901/6554/ Multi-launch coaster seems certain. Guessing this is more white knuckle than a family coaster but it's still a weird choice having two multi-launch ...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

It's a double whammy compared to fastpasses though.  You've paid for the slot AND if you miss it, you're probably not getting to experience it at all. It's just that little bit more anxiety compared to them.  Capacity is hard to judge. 25 at a time, maybe 6 minutes per scene including transferring ....

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

Hopefully he learnt more than a few lessons from the construction of Disney Land Paris...

That said, most of the issues leading up to the opening were down to Eisner. French politicians and French Unions so it would be a much easier job (if this ever happens).

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

If you get a timed booking slot I can see lots of potential issues. Guessing with Merlin's cost controls that they'll operate the attraction bang on capacity with little leeway for catching up on any backlog.  What's going to happen if someone gets a booking for a timeslot and find there's a 45 min...

Re: SW9

Thirteen is definitely not too intimidating to be a family coaster, the same could be argued with Wicker Man. Although I'd personally like a new thrill coaster, which I'm sure the majority of us do want I suppose a new family one isn't of the cards, I personally highly doubt it'll be family orienta...

Re: SW9

How about a heavily themed family launch coaster along the lines of the slinky dog coaster or the San diego Manta?  Reasonably high capacity replacements for Rita, don't need to go above the tree line and are more obviously family than something like Thirteen which is still too intimidating to  tru...

Re: Alton Towers Resort Future - General Discussion & Wishes

Man, if having a ride replaced by a paid attraction isn't a good look, locking a much needed flatride inside it is even worse. Such a massive risk of a PR disaster when the park needs any goodwill it can get.

Re: Walt Disney World - Disney's Hollywood Studios

For the first time Disney seem to have given some concrete details about the 'Rise of the Resistance' ride. https://wdwnt.com/2018/12/photos-first-look-at-guests-riding-the-millennium-falcon-rise-of-the-resistance-star-wars-galaxys-edge/ Looks like it's a new version of their trackless vehicle tech ...

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

To be honest I would totally go to a park that's nothing but Nintendo. I can see the Mario Kart ride being the best ride in the world if it even just gets close to delivering on its promise and the Zelda and Donkey Kong rides are all sure to be unique too.   Weirdly there's no Pokemon ride planned b...

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

The train from London to Hogsmeade was inspired and far better than I would have thought, having a third Potter land would undermine it a bit, especially as there's no way of them doing another sort of 'journey' like that.   A third potter land put putting too many eggs in one basket, spreading the ...

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

I will always be suspicious of blurry, angled 'leaks'. The BG is a previously released picture and that logo, although very professional is something one person could put together. I'm excited both at a Nintendo world and the prospect of a park filled with Diagon Alley quality theming. That said, so...

Re: Disneyland Resort Paris

Weird how vague they are for everything except for the Rock and Rollercoaster. That does extremely similar to the Spiderman ride being built in California Adventure with the Spiderman Symbol being oddly disguised, not sure why they're seemingly avoiding announcing rides. Trying to trickle out a stre...

Re: Blackpool Central - 2019-2029

I saw a glimpse of a powered inverted coaster in the video, that got me interested, hopefully it's not just there as "this is what an indoor rollercoaster looks like". A flying theatre is great too. A place that you can spend a whole day at without leaving would help bring people spending ...

Re: Tokyo Disney Resort

Jesus those animatronics are impressive, so glad they're not just relying on projection mapping faces.  Up to 50 people in a scene at a time, Disney are definitely trying to make sure their rides have plenty of capacity (which is great given the crowds). Interesting they've gone with the original an...

Re: Winter Wonderland - Hyde Park London

Spent a couple of hours in it this evening, didn't really get to do too many rides because of who I was with. First time I've ever been but it's easily the best travelling fair I've ever seen and all the rides were in a condition that puts so dubious fairs to shame. Had a good time overall. A few ne...

I never understood why people thought that washing machine thing likely to happen. Slowly rotating upside down when stationary wouldn't be terribly thrilling or comfortable.

Re: Parc Asterix

Won’t the LSM’s be changing polarity to launch in both directions? So they would double up as an emergengy brake won’t they? Can’t wait for this, or the new walabi coaster, both are gonna be amazing by the looks of things. The polarity will determine which direction they accelerate I believe. When ...

Re: Parc Asterix

A track switch on a high speed section without holding brakes either side is extremely impressive if they pull it off with good reliability.

Wonder what the emergency braking will be like for when theres a fault detected on the switch

Official confirmation from Disney confirming the ride system and showing it in action https://twitter.com/CaitlinDineen/status/1062716572001755136 As I thought, the weight of the vehicles looks like it smooths out drops. will probably end up much milder than crush's coaster but the controlled spinni...

New ride type from Dynamic:

A more advanced version of the Test Track ride system. I would love for this to come to the UK but can't see Merlin Splashing out on a large scale dark ride any time soon.
