Re: Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom

50th anniversary... I was at Disney World for the 25th (with the infamous birthday cake castle).

I'm getting old...

Re: Daytona Beach - Sand Blaster accident

An accident report has been released: https://www.freshfromflorida.com/News-Events/Press-Releases/2018-Press-Releases/Excessive-Speed-Caused-Sand-Blaster-Roller-Coaster-Accident-in-Daytona-Beach Basically the coaster was allowed to run way too fast, relying on safety wheels that are meant to be used...

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

Epic universe sounds like a pure marketing slogan to me. It's get dated really quickly as a theme park name (although you could argue it's actually an appropriate use of the term unlike most 'trendy' uses) . If I had to guess they'd use it to refer to all the parks as a collective when buying ticket...

Re: Walt Disney World General Discussion

Anything that keeps kids entertained and not thinking about their bladder in long queues is good. Hope they try hard to make it social though, as much as non-bored kids in the queue is a good thing, a lot of parents won't want kids glued to a mobile in the queue.

The Soarin quiz did it well

Re: Disneyland Resort Paris

http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2018/07/dlp-walt-disney-studios-latest.html An analysis of some apparently credible leaks from Disney Central Plaza. Big things to note: Each land looks initially to only contain a single ride with two big e-tickets (Frozen and Star Wars battle escape) alongside som...

Slightly clearer shot of the drop section. Looks like it's about 40% the height of the building. That puts it about in line with Thirteen's doesn't it?

Re: Dreamworld Australia

Jesus Christ, reading through the list of findings is disturbing. Almost every single point is unforgivable just in isolation. Staff genuinely thought they had to phone someone up for an emergency stop (which didn't even work) and you had to use a key instead of a big red button, shocking levels of ...

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

Looks pretty neat, not usually a huge fan of heavy use of water spray screens but, unlike with Fantasmic, they're more to complement the other elements rather than being the sole focus.

It's crying out for some pyrotechnics for the finale though.

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

Or you could just, you know, not go in the upcharge attractions. He's kinda saying he won't. Gotta say, though, closing an attraction included in the ticket price (one of the parks increasingly small selection of 'ages 6-60' rides at that) to replace it with one that costs an additional amount woul...

Re: Walt Disney World - Disney's Hollywood Studios

It's a bit vague is the Cars show is a live stunt show or a 4D show. Kinda hoping on the former as the Indiana Jones show is showing its age (the setup for the stunt scenes takes way too long).  Really looking forward to the Mickey Ride. Looks they they're not using the old Great Movie Ride vehicles...

Re: The Bear Grylls Adventure - Birmingham NEC

It's closer to an extreme sports center than the usual "2 hour fast moving tour" that Merlin usually put into their attractions.I quite like it.

They will probably make a killing from corporate outings.

Re: What do you think should replace CCL?

Don't think they can get away with extending Dark Forest into it, it'd make the park theme overall a bit too oppressive.  The park needs a new 'whole family' area. Something that's not as kiddie as CBeebies but not as intimidating as Dark Forest. I think honestly they've got to look at Avatar land a...

Re: Disneyland Resort

The lighting is beautiful at night but it would also be beautiful without the Incredibles stuff. If they had to do this retheme they should have gone all out with experimental tech to produce more neat effects like Dash's running or just properly converted non-front facing parts into more fully deve...

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

Doubling the size of the drop is interesting but it raises a big question : can the mechanics behind the ride manage the higher speeds of a bigger drop? If it reaches 'max' speed halfway down you won't get much sensation after that. They could also make the drop have half the acceleration but that c...

Re: Disneyland Resort

Man, these sorts of cheap, easy re-themes are the kind of thing Six Flags get heavily criticized for. It's not like they're preserving timeless classic by 'updating' these fairly standard flat rides either. Looking at the current map, does this mean there are going to be three very similar aerial ri...

Re: Disneyland Resort

It's definitely a bit worrying how readily they're sacrificing overall theming for their licenes. Cohesive themes and licences don't need to be a "one of the other" choice you can do both. It's calling back to the Eisner era of "this will be profitable right now and it won't cost much...

Re: Daytona Beach - Sand Blaster accident

Not sure how much blame can be attatched to Pinfari. They build a pretty large amount coasters and most of them go to low budget parks and funfairs, the kinds of places where it's more common for them to be less attentive on maintenance and safety. Didn't M&Ds have a dodgy inspector who missed a...

Re: Tokyo Disney Resort

Building two boat rides at the same time is an eyebrow raising choice, especially considering it sounds like it sounds the Tangled ride follows almost the exact same format as Frozen.  Wonder if either Peter Pan's Flight or the Tinkerbell ride will use the Soarin/Avatar systems. I'd guess it's eithe...

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

Judging by the way the track is passing through those supports I'd guess there isn't the space for a cycle + sidecar train.  Despite the launches, it seems the ride is going to be pretty mild, moreso that Thirteen. Looks like it's going the Gringotts route of cramming in as many neat ride elements a...
