Re: Universal Orlando Resort

Hopefully it'll teach Universal that they need to do more than just stick you in front of a screen and rock you about a bit.

I'm not holding out much hope for the T2 3D replacement.

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

Not sure it'll be more than a family ride even as a powered launch. The outdoor segments seem too compact for it to get to extreme speeds and the lack of height so far in the supports aren't lending themselves towards much airtime. That said, you'd have to wonder why you'd theme a coaster around a f...

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

Bit of a shame, the powered inverted coaster would have been something unique in the Americas whereas this is going to open what, a year after Disney open their powered launch family coaster?  Here's hoping the dark ride elements are top notch and the fact it'll have a high speed twisty section mean...

Re: SW9

Wouldn't really make much sense to replace a spinning coaster with another more expensive spinning coaster.

That said, I'd love an FX coaster of the style of Gringotts or (if rumours are correct) the Guardians of the Galaxy ride which have spinning elements.

Re: SW9

Alton Towers has a big problem with its lack of obvious family rides with the removal of the log flume and the Rapids going part time. Projection tech is making dark rides much easier to maintain and can produce extremely good results used properly. Replacing Charlie and the Chocolate factory with a...

Re: Six Flags Fiesta Texas

That's insanely smooth, it's like watching a car going around a hotwheels track. God knows what stresses are put on that track though. The thin looking ridges on the side of the track where the wheels go, Would they last a decade without warping or developing terminal microfractures? Especially in t...

Re: Disneyland Resort Paris

Pretty incredible news. It finally turns Disney Studios into a park worth visiting in its own right, rather than as an add on to DLP.  Frozen interestingly looks as if it's going to have two rides. One will obviously be Frozen Ever After. I'd guess they'd the fact they can build it from scratch will...

Re: Disneyland Resort Paris

Pretty great news, the park needs new rides not rethemes. The Tower of Terror is timeless, Will Guardians of the Galaxy be remembered 15 years from now?

Hope we get news on what's being added soon, still think they're going to go with a Marvel Zone.

They're usually ok with cloned rides aren't they?

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach

I really looks to be a phenomenal coaster,  brilliant use of the surroundings, if those fence posts are the final position the people watching will get impressively close at perhaps the most intense part of the ride.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Alton Towers for the day requires me to be driving 7 hours in total. Frankly I'm not sure it's worth it now.  This is simply shameful. Family rides either torn down, closed for large parts of the year and/or only operating from 12PM. You're forced around the park by the staggered openings of the oth...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

I mean I know the Warner Bros Studio Tour in Watford, fairly near to me, had plans to become a universal park, but it feels a little too late now for the land to be used for developments. The site is being used a lot for lots of Warner Bros films like the DC ones. Potentially, it would be a great p...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

Just think.. if this ride is a big hit for families.. what would be the possibility that Thorpe Park would get their own GCI.. or dare I even say RMC.. think I'm getting ahead of myself :lol My worry is that it suffers from the same awkwardness as Thirteen does. Thirteen's big problem is that it's ...

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach

This makes me actively angry. it's a classic, historical ride and gives a unique (unexpectedly terrifying) experience that I've fond memories of riding.   The number of wooden wild mouse coasters on the planet continues to decrease. Extremely frustrating given that it's modern steel counterpart is s...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

The pizza buffets make me wonder why more theme parks outside of Merlin don't try them.

They're high capacity, popular, keep people off the paths and queues longer than burger and chips and they're good value for money by theme park standards.

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

6 months delay but they still plan a 2023 opening.  5 years to get the planning permission sorted, build the transport links minimizing disruption around one of the worst bottlenecked sections of road around London and then to build a water park, theme park and entertainment/event centre.... Seems i...

Re: Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom

A theatre that takes 1000 or so people off the paths/queues for 45 minutes is always a good thing, hope they use some of that big open space to provide some seating for people to sit down and have a drink/snack, there used to be a few places you could sit down and relax for a bit along main street, ...

Re: Disneyland Resort Paris

A six year wait just for a retheme as THE major project for the park would be an incredibly bleak prospect for a park that needs more rides. You'd also have to wonder how much of a draw it would be 4-5 years after GotG Vol.3 too. The rumours I've seen floating around seem to fit better (and are a mo...

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Half the fun of Steeplechase is how vulnerable and 'at risk' you feel on it, would lose a lot of it with those new designs. Looks like they allow for more intense ride layouts though so it'll be interesting to see what other parks do with it.

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach

S&S announced that they're now offering Steeplechase coasters using the rights they bought from Arrow. Will probably mean the Steeplechase will lose it's "world's only" status in the next year or two. Also gives BPB some new options if they want to replace the ride vehicles: https://pb...
