Re: Duel and the Gloomy Wood - A future?

I agree the a haunted house is a vital part of any theme park, however duel is dated. Also, I do think gloomy wood and dark forest are very similar and therefore one is unnecessary. I don't think at rebranding ugland into dark forest was an accident of poor forsight, I believe I was always part of a...

Re: 2015-2019: Possible Developments?

I agree. Although aging the minetrain and rapids still have plenty to offer. The minetrain is tame enough to appeal to a wide range of guests and has the throughput to keep up with demand. The rapids must have been a fairly costly addition and as such it would be crazy to consider removing them. The...

2017-2021: Possible Developments?

As we are not far now from the end of the 2016 season, a 2015-2019 topic is a bit dated, however here's a few things I think should happen over the next 4 or 5 seasons, up to 2021 maybe. Some of these are what I'd like to see however unlikely and some are things I think AT are aiming for in the long...

Re: High Ropes Course - Planning Permission Submitted

Does anyone else think the estimated daily figures are a bit optimistic? There are high ropes courses at Butlins, which in peak season have several thousand people on site, and they generally had around 80 to 100 per day. So considering that most guests spend the majority of there time in the park, ...

Re: Future of the Monorail

Yea, this has been mentioned before and I can't believe they haven't done it already. It would cost almost nothing to just install an exit gate near air, and would take the strain off the monorail making its use more enjoyable and reliable. I agree that it shouldn't be an entrance too but as people ...

Re: Future of the Monorail

I don't like the idea of the entrance relocating as the views from towers street are great, however logistically and in the interests of the park being able to handle higher customer throughput in the future, it makes sense and I'm sure will happen, soon. Getting back on the original topic however, ...

Re: Gloomy Wood Future

Realistically, are there going to be any major developments or money spent on gloomy wood? It seems like, should the new entrance go ahead, gloomy wood would be cleared to make way for turnstiles, shops and buildings. If you cleared the space taken up by duel and the monorail maintenance building th...

Re: Submission Replacement

Submission didnt take up very much space and I'm not sure what other flats would be able to sit on that land. I would say Enterprise and Ripsaw take up more space, for example, so I'm not sure if Alton has many options for that particular area to be developed on with an actual ride. It's a lot more...

Re: Coaster corner?

Several years after this topic was last used I thought it was worth trying to restart this discussion. There are various suggested reasons as to why Coaster Corner was closed, the main two being the issues with some of the rides and the continual noise issues. Therefore I think it has great potentia...

Re: Future Merchandise Ideas?

Chessington do (or did) a kind of badge swap. They just themed them after each ride. This could work. Even introduce old rides or mascots etc, bring some
of the magic back.

Re: Dark ride ideas

I've always wondered why there don't seem to be many rides in the UK like Dinosaur in Disney AK, or the Tornado themed things at Universal. A large indoor dark ride where riders travel in cars, past any themed animatronics. Not just old fashioned Duel/HH style moving things. But true immersive themi...

Re: Dark ride ideas

What about using the old coaster corner area again? As far as I'm aware, the issue here was noise, height etc. So, indoor rides might be the solution. It's a big plot of land.

Thoughts?

Re: CBeebies Land 2014 - General Discussion

I doubt it's to restrict who goes in, more likely just to allow a safe environment for kids to walk without risk of them running off. Interesting how the Mr bloom ride states a ride time of 10 mins. Neither of the other 2 do. Even the night garden boat ride which is obviously a ride. What rides used...

So, looking through the recent 'Churnet Valley Report' by Staffordshire Moorlands, they state that the Alton Towers Gardens could be considered for a separate access or ticketing option (quote and link below). Re: SW8

I do think the long awaited woodie is a must. Ideally the cross valley plan originally seen but I'm not sure that AT would get the noise issue past the locals as well as having to potentially remove several trees from the valley. So if it was situated elsewhere without much tree removal it might be ...

Re: 2014 Family Developments: General Discussion

As a parent of a 2 year old who lives and breathes cbeebies, I think this possible ip would have massive potential. As far as licensing, I believe that some shows are externally made and bought by the channel which I think would require complex licensing, however the vast majority are made by cbeebi...

Re: New Infrastructure Layout => New Huge Area for Hotel / Entertainment Complex

I think the entertainment complex will be the only realistic big spend in the near future. The potential income benefits are massive! If the average spend of a visitor staying overnight is much higher than day trips, which it obviously is, then that's where the best investments will be. Also due to ...

Re: The Future of RITA..

I like this idea of the thirteen cross story. But whatever the story, the important thing is that I doubt the track will ever be changed, its not that simple to add a loop, the physics are more complex than RCT has to offer, but a good back story, excellent themeing, enclosed station. these are all ...

Re: Which water ride will be removed first?

The log Flume is beyond being financially viable to keep repairing. It needs replacing, but it has to be replaced with another family water ride. Its a vital part of the park, and although coaster enthusiasts will just want more extreme rides, the park needs variety. Also, the site is more than big ...
