Re: Scarefest - General Discussion

With a few weeks still to go, it may be that things are still to be added, however it looks as though the layout of The Welcoming is somewhat reduced with the potential removal of the hooded section and reworking of the finale.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

There is a new vacancy for an area manager at Alton Towers: "We'll expect you to put forward ideas that increase profits, reduce costs and be able to demonstrate evidence of doing this before." Nice to see Merlin are comitted to inproving the guest experience! Assuming this is the role yo...

Re: Christmas & New Year at the Alton Towers Resort

Is anyone aware if the Towers will be running something between xmas and new year this year,  last xmas they continued the xmas entertainment and rides but with-out the Santa bit?  It worked quite well if you have younger children and was cheaper than the pre-xmas event.  How-ever there is still no...

Re: Scarefest - General Discussion

The Alton Towers Holidays website has been updated with Scarefest details. There doesn't appear to be anything of note in relation to the theme park offering, but there is some insight into the seasonal entertainment in the Alton Towers Hotel and Splash Landings Hotel: Alton Towers Hotel: Enjoy a ho...

Re: Fright Nights

What if The Big Top was to swap location with Sanctum (or some improved incarnation of it)? Has anyone who’s been at the park recently seen any activity in the area where Sanctum was located last year? It would bring the TWD attraction a bit more into the park and distance TBT’s carnival/circus vibe...

Re: Scarefest - General Discussion

As posted on TowersTimes Facebook , further details have emerged for Project 42: Situated in Forbidden Valley, valiant volunteers will be invited to enter the underground Phalanx compound in a bid to outwit what awaits them inside. They will then need to find a vaccination for the escaped human test...

Re: ‘Stargazing Pods’ Accommodation Discussion

A construction update from the weekend was posted on TowersTimes News earlier this evening, showing both work on-site and the demonstration pods in the theme park (including their interiors from both the front and back). The full galleries are also available on the TowersTimes website . https://www....

Carowinds have announced details of their 2019 addition, Copperhead Strike , today. As the first double launch roller coaster in the Carolinas, Copperhead Strike will deliver twice the boost and twice the bite. The ride immediately leaves the station and goes into a jo-jo roll before loading into th...

Re: Six Flags Great America

Among today’s announcements from Six Flags is Maxx Force . The park are claiming the coaster will break the records for having: the fastest launch in North America (0-78mph in under 2 seconds), the fastest inversion of any coaster in the world, and the tallest double-inversion in the world. https://...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

The one Coaster Touring has uploaded seems to be slightly less zoomed in, therefore looking a bit better, in my opinion. Not sure if they may have filmed a number of POVs with different settings, or if that’s just the way Towers chose to edit the footage provided to them.

Re: Scarefest - General Discussion

I believe the reason The Welcoming is separately ticketed is due to its later opening time of 5.30pm. The other three mazes all open at 1pm.

Re: Inside Alton Towers - General Discussion

I believe it was always intended for the documentary to focus on Wicker Man, and that was something that I thought information released ahead of the programme airing made relatively clear. However, the title “Inside Alton Towers” may have understandably created expectation that it would provide a mo...

Re: Scarefest - General Discussion

This FAQ contains a lot of information in relation to the timings of the majority of non-maze attractions at this year's Scarefest - handily the TowersTimes Scarefest site has also been updated to reflect this ;) There are also a couple of new things mentioned, as detailed below: Dr Vic’s Karaoke L...

Re: Christmas & New Year at the Alton Towers Resort

Does anyone know if you can use a Merlin pass to get a discount on the Special Christmas packages put together by Alton Towers? Like the Santa sleepovers at the hotel etc? It does say that the standard Merlin pass discount cannot be used in conjunction with other special offers, but was not sure if...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Does anyone know if there's an age restriction to going alone (without a parent, basically) to Alton? And also if there is any public transport I'd be able to catch to get there? The answer to this FAQ suggests anyone over the age of 12 can enter without being accompanied by someone over 18. Public...
