Re: New to the forum? Introduce yourself here!

Great to see lots of people join us as we embark on SW8's journey of discovery!

Look forward to seeing everyone around on the forum, and maybe even joining us for an event or two in the future :)

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

Considering there's only a placeholder for one more video on the SW8 page, what are the chances of something happening while they're on the construction site in the next episode which sees the marketing take a different turn...? Of course it could just be that additional episodes are added at a late...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

I have moved all posts relating to the newly released video to SW8 Speculation and Discussion .  Where possible, please try to keep the discussion in its relevant topic otherwise things can get messy with the same things being discussed in multiple places. On the subject of construction, Theme Park ...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

Some construction photos from today have been posted on  TowersTimes Facebook , with some additional photos also available on the SW8 minisite . Despite the lack of sunshine in recent days, work has continued on the site of SW8 with the layers of pine being built up on the lift hill track in prepara...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

The Alton Towers Holidays website has now been updated to state that Splash Landings Hotel will be open during the majority of Scarefest dates, as well during the Fireworks weekend. The following information is available if you scroll to the bottom of the linked pages (although obviously amended for...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

From Merlin's perspective, the objective of Towers is to deliver "fantastical escapism", which pretty much means any themes and stories featured in the park aren't grounded in reality. So while SW8's theme may be inspired by Paganism and similar mythology, I'd be very surprised to see it f...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

A selection of the photos taken by Justin , some of which were posted on TowersTimes Facebook earlier this evening, have now been uploaded to the (newly refreshed) SW8 minisite . http://www.towerstimes.co.uk/sw8/files/2017/08/DSCN0349.jpg http://www.towerstimes.co.uk/sw8/files/2017/08/DSCN0696.jpg h...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

Theme Park Worldwide posted this image showing some surprisingly extreme-looking banking. It's hard to tell from the photo, but I think this may be part of the second drop down after descending from the lift hill. In the background of the photo you can also see that part of the pre-show building's ...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

The file is indeed now called 'plague' however it was definitely 'plaque' yesterday as I downloaded the image and it still exists here - https://az772917.vo.msecnd.net/media/4940/plaque.png

Perhaps Towers have been reading the speculation and saw an opportunity to create further confusion :P

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

While I do think 'Be Chosen' is the most convincing speculated meaning of the symbols so far, there's also the chance that they have no specific meaning as such and are more just there to convey a certain theme. That said, it could be that they will play a more significant part in the marketing camp...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

On the plans it states that the sound tunnel is rather long.. but looking at pictures it ends before the bottom of the first drop? Do we know if it's changed or if there is still more tunnel to be made.. It's not really possible to know for sure until they start work on enclosing the tunnel, howeve...

Re: Scarefest

So given that my understanding is that the Towers are pretty much at capacity in terms on scare mazes, there is the question of where the fourth maze will go... With the removal of the Dark Apocalypse scare zone from the line-up, could it be that the Resort will utilise Sub Terra as a scare maze loc...

The planned maintenance was the annual launch cable change.

Just as a side note - if I'm remembering correctly from the Summer Sizzler BTS, the launch cable is now changed every six months, i.e. once during closed season and once half way through the season (hence July).

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

Anyone for a random VR attraction in the Alton Towers Hotel's Emperor Suite? Going by these photos posted in the MAP Facebook group , it seems there is now a WePlayVR upcharge experience called Mayan Adventure, which looks to be one of the two games they can supply. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn....

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

I do think the height of the actual pre-show area is curious, and will no doubt be utilised by whatever show sequence is inside. From the plans, the lower section appears to contain the baggage area and somewhere to hold guests prior to entering the pre-show. http://www.towerstimes.co.uk/sw8/files/2...

Re: Howl-o-ween

Full details of the 2017 line-up have been added to Chessington's website , confirming the addition of two new attractions. 'Creepy Caves Unearthed' is said to be the resort's "scariest attraction yet" with it given a 10+ age rating. It will also incur an additional charge of £6 (or £4.80 ...

It does look somewhat bizarre, but it will be exciting to see what RMC's fully-steel product turns out like.

What's it on the site of in the park?

It's going on the site of Power Surge, an Intamin shoot-the-chutes which was closed on July 23rd.
