Re: Scarefest - General Discussion

This FAQ contains a lot of information in relation to the timings of the majority of non-maze attractions at this year's Scarefest - handily the TowersTimes Scarefest site has also been updated to reflect this ;) There are also a couple of new things mentioned, as detailed below: Dr Vic’s Karaoke L...

Re: Christmas & New Year at the Alton Towers Resort

Does anyone know if you can use a Merlin pass to get a discount on the Special Christmas packages put together by Alton Towers? Like the Santa sleepovers at the hotel etc? It does say that the standard Merlin pass discount cannot be used in conjunction with other special offers, but was not sure if...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Does anyone know if there's an age restriction to going alone (without a parent, basically) to Alton? And also if there is any public transport I'd be able to catch to get there? The answer to this FAQ suggests anyone over the age of 12 can enter without being accompanied by someone over 18. Public...

Re: ‘Stargazing Pods’ Accommodation Discussion

I don't know about heating, but they'll have insulation. Possibly too small to have any proper heating?  I can't imagine insulation will do much if the overnight temperature is below 5c and the daytime temperature barely got above 10c all day. Any heating would have to be electric fan heaters and t...

Re: Heide Park

It seems an EU trademark has recently been filed for "Colossos Kampf Der Giganten" (i.e. Colossos Battle of the Giants) with Lane IP, Merlin's go-to IP law firm, currently both the registered representative and owner... The logo appears to suggest a wood and fire theme - wonder where they ...

Hansa Park have today revealed that they will open the world's tallest and fastest gyro-drop tower in 2019 - Highlander. It will be added to a newly-themed area which has a name that translates to 'Enchanting Britain' and will incorporate the existing Nessie rollercoaster. The announcement video has...

Re: ‘Stargazing Pods’ Accommodation Discussion

As posted on TowersTimes Facebook , Alton Towers have updated their website to confirm ‘Stargazing Pods’ as the name of their accommodation pods development, along with the reveal of the official logo. There is also the opportunity for guests to enter a competition to win a stay in a Stargazing Pod,...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

As a season pass holder, does the £10 upgrade for exclusion dates include Scarefest? It would be nice to only have to pay £10 entry + £20 for scare mazes rather than the £50 combi...  Yes, it’s possible for Season Passholders to book the £10 extra day tickets for Scarefest (and Fireworks) dates onl...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

While the staff working on Wicker Man were given guidance on how they could present themselves as Beornen, in terms of the way they behave and speak, I don’t believe they’re expected to remain in a certain character for the whole duration that they’re working on the ride, as ultimately they’re not i...

Re: TT Summer Festival 2018 - Reviews and Feedback

Hard to believe this was now a week ago! I think I was on such a high from the weekend that there weren't any post-meet blues in sight this time around :P Was a really enjoyable day, from the ERTs (some more expected than others) to the afternoon talk, as well as the Battle Galleons takeover and the...

Here's the plan I referenced earlier - the blue dots are what are referred to as "telescope positions".

Will these pods also come with telescopes and star charts and maps I wonder?

Shown on the plans are three "telescope positions" in the central green area. I expect that would mean three telescopes, which isn't really a lot when you have 102 keys with a few guests in each pod.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

TowersStreet posted some pictures earlier today showing that some areas of The Smiler's queue have been cleaned recently – hopefully this is just the start of a whole load of much needed TLC for the ride.  Had literally been stood in the queue at the weekend thinking the area in question could do w...

Re: The Bear Grylls Adventure - Birmingham NEC

Tickets are now available to book  for dates from Monday 1st October  - seems it will actually be £20 (not £25) for the four Basecamp activities. Standard and Premium Merlin Annual Passholders can get 25% off various ticket packages, while VIP Merlin Annual Passholders can get 50% off. Those with M...
