Re: Ride Downtime

I'm told the issues on park at present are down to a power surge but that's yet to be confirmed.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

I've heard the same thing about Nemesis running one train for the entire season. Based on the reason I've been told, it's not due to budget cuts so much as maintenance issues.

Re: The Walking Dead: The Ride - New for 2018

For something that is very clearly a work in progress, I think it looks fine.

Re: Wicker Man Construction Discussion

The name came from there being a single tree in between the path itself and the Wicker Man construction site. It's down at the very bottom end of the path, near the queue line.

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

I’ve just recently seen a post on Twitter from Coastertouring, that John wardley has ridden Wicker man and has given a short review on his experience. Let’s just say he really enjoyed it, and by what he’s experienced it sounds very promising! Wardley was on site Monday to ride Wicker Man and provid...

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Amanda has been stated to say that Icon will be themed around a Zen garden, which I'll remind you, is a feature very common to Japan.

And Bert, pagodas aren't just in China. The architecture is seen across the majority of Eastern Asia so I wouldn't be so quick to put them down on that one.

Also, I have no idea how the Tickler car washing brushes have developed a big chunk of black to one side of both brushes.

This will most likely be oil that's run from the motors that drive the brushes.

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

I suspect that footage may be from the taller 'tower' like end of the preshow building. A sneak peek at the preshow itself perhaps? Time will tell and until then no one can say for sure.

Re: Wicker Man Construction Discussion

The trees are obscuring several parts of the queue in this photo. Believe me, the queue is very very long in terms of distance walked. Considering it loops around almost the entire site towards the latter half, with a part in the middle of the big turnaround, as well as all those areas by the entran...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

It's neither of those in the case of Th13teen and Spinball Whizzer, but in fact to do with the low seats of the rides providing insufficient back support for riders over a certain height. One friend of mine operates Spinball and he can't even ride it because of his height. Wicker Man will have a sim...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

On modern GCIs there are storage tracks for all bar one train, as well as the track for the train to pass through the building during regular operation. The two storage tracks are separated from the circuit track by either a wall or screen, which is what that black cloth will be.

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

Where The Smiler's concerned it's partially a safety issue. Regarding the harnesses required to be worn by some of the ride positions. If memory serves right, I believe hosts also remove their lanyards for Oblivion's harnessed positions. But yes, Katie's also right in that it is also very much to do...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

As far as uniforms are concerned, it's kinda geeky and something that people who've worked there in recent years will understand, but I wonder if the uniform will require them to wear the ID lanyard or not. Because whilst most rides uniforms do, The Smiler's, and I believe Nemesis Sub-Terra's unifor...

Re: Wicker Man Construction Discussion

Not necessarily. If I remember correctly, the section of queue line you're referring to was actually being put together directly behind the construction fence at the bottom of one tree path. It may still be open, we shall have to see in March. EDIT: Found a photo of what I mean: https://i.imgur.com/...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

All of the clips showing the track were actually of Wicker Man. No doubt about it. As for the 1 second on ride clip, there's no way that it could have been a camera fly through with the speed as well as the subtle visible shake from left to right that GCIs have. The clip wasn't long, but long enough...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

I imagine the photo may be situated pointing at the twist after the snappy curve out of the tunnel like you say Owen, I think it'll be a great moment of the ride :)
