Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Rumba Rapids closes early in the season due to a lack of popularity during Fright Nights and to save on staffing costs. The ride also needs lighting all the way round to operate in the dark so I believe the park just close the ride and start maintenance early.

Apart from the fact that it’s well away from the park itself and they probably don’t own that land.

I have to be very careful with what I say due to contractual agreements so I can't say much. However the park do own that section of land as the hotel was/is meant to be situated next to it.

Re: Project 2020

I've seen a lot of people try to take this little clip out of context, thinking its something to do with 'ahhh its wood, rmc confirmed!'/ahhh thats loggers area'. Thorpe won't build anything here because frankly that would be a bit stupid to slap a coaster there. A while back when there were going ...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

Just to point out there is limited WiFi/wireless channels available and there would be all sorts of conflicts. The VR will have to use a wired system especially if there are 60 headsets. There is no way the server racks could move so I find it unlikely you will wear the headsets while under "vi...

Re: Quantum Parks Limited

Should come along and check out Havilland park sometime soon. Been a while since I posted an update on it. We now have a woodie (possible RMC treatment on the way) , vekoma switch track, rapids ride, intamin multilaunch, intamin lsm coaster, b&m floorless and coming soon a mack powered coaster, ...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I thought the trim brakes were automatic and cannot be simply turned on and off by the operator. Also where the train valleyed is visable on the cctv which the operator can see. What ever the reason it is unlikely we will ever find out. My issue is why it took so long to get the people off. I unders...

Re: London Paramount - General Discussion

The last government already expressed great interest in the project and said it was a key project to the UK. It will get permission granted in some form or another.

The coaster design works the same as it does in no limits. Just a little less advanced.

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

The building has a 3m deep basement. The large hole is for the foundations due to the land being reclaimed land it requires deeper foundations than some other buildings would require.

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Maybe they should do some research and then they would learn that every ride goes through hundreds of safety checks a day.

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

The RnR queue for the swarm currently uses the old backwards queue line and merges with the main queue at the baggage room. The backwards queue hasn't been used all year and to go backwards you just choose that bay when you get to the station.

Re: SW8

Maverick for a long while has a heigh restriction of around 1.3m and I would not class that as a family ride. Its only merlin that are obsessed with their anti lapbar culture. All of the RMC's have lapbars and they are most certainly not family rides either. Originally Gerstauler wanted to give the ...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

As a quick side note the national railways run on a multiple block system as well. When something goes wrong they shut down the block and no train can enter it. However they are slowly switching some lines to something called rolling block, which is currently in use on the DLR. It completely depends...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Saw stalls regularly, The vampire stalls so often that there is a winch always on standby (there was in 2010 when I had a friend on the engineering team). Colossus can stall on the final turn. There was a day 2 years ago when 5 coasters at cedar point stalled. Stalls are very common and can't be avo...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

I dont understand why RNR doesnt work. Cant they just be strict about getting there at you allotted time. If your late, you miss your turn and have to effectively queue again. The only down side to RNR I can see is that smaler rides would have bigger queues as there would be less people stuck in a ...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

When you set up your account it will ask how many people are in your group. You can then put down 4 people. The maximum is 6.

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

Oh right. This sounds awful! Was looking today whilst on my break and the rnr queues were at 0 minutes or maybe 10. It maybe because I wasn't on site but If this is true then I will be using rnr to work. Thanks for clearing it up :) If you get a day when there are not many people then you will have...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I don't think they will do much to the theme if anything, they may just change the name. They will upgrade the ride systems do the odd media event to show that they trust it. Then the incident will fade into history. People still ride Drenched after someone died. People still ride PMBO and the big d...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

If Reserve and Ride is active when you are there for the love of god use it. The idea is on an app you have a list of the 5 (4 without saw) coasters. Each ride has a virtual wait time which you can select what one to go on. The app counts down the time and when that time is up you go to the ride. Wh...
