Re: Merlin General Discussion

I can see that Merlin have lots of fans here, so I appreciate that I'm not going to get anywhere. BPB is the leading UK park IMO, Merlin have slowly destroyed the magic that Alton Towers had. Days at BPB for me are much more enjoyable than days at Towers, and at the end of the day, that's why I pre...

Re: Merlin General Discussion

Saying that BPB is higher quality than Merlin is like saying that Drayton Manor surpasses Europa Park in quality. It makes no sense at all. The company have done an amazing job since taking over the shambles that was Tussauds from 2002-2007. As a quick refresher of what Merlin have bought about: Saw...

Re: Ride pin badges

It's a shame that some people buy all of the pin badges to the point they sell out, only then to sell them on eBay, if AT put a limit on the amount of badges per person I'm sure that the problem would disappear and there'd be more than enough for everyone interested in buying one :)

Re: Do you get sick on theme park rides? You can help!

I don't, I've not found a single ride to make me sick yet.

I do know someone who got very sick on Air/Galactica though... :lol

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train

As stated at the TTSP Summer Sizzler behind the scenes at the Thrills Workshop, it's apparently just a nightmare scene to make work. I think they would have much better investment removing it and having actors in the tunnel as seen on press night earlier this year. Not only is it unexpected but it m...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

I believe SW7 had the name "The Smiler" leaked in similar fashion to how SW8 was leaked not long ago. I vividly remember Towers2Go (Remember that channel? good times) reporting on it from the SW7 site which is a fun memory :lol So due to this I am inclined to believe SW8 will be named Wick...

Phantasialand Photo Trip Report

So, I finally left the UK this week to visit Phantasialand. This is my review of the park, the rides, and possibly more. Note that Chiapas Die Wasserbahn was closed for the entirety of my stay (and will be closed for a while if the rumours of it breaking a chain are true). Berlin The first thing you...

Re: Phantasialand

Hey guys, Was at the park over the last few days and it's weird to say that it seems easier to photograph the prototype the prototype at the Vekoma plant than to actually photograph the ride itself. It's like a military operation to keep that ride hidden. What you can see of it, however, is massive....

Re: Phantasialand

So, we now know exactly what the seating will look like on F.L.Y as this was spotted on the test track for the next generation Vekoma Flyers http://vekoma.webklik.nl/user_files/2015_04/582619/photos/5312497e120e09d9ff80c1aa902fa84a.jpg Photo courtesy of this site, the full album featuring the rest o...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

CV, I'm having a hard time seeing it from your point of view here. Hex has been made infinitely better and I didn't notice any loss of atmosphere, and the lightened vault was a plus as you could see everything as well as having new strobes for it too, adding more effect. I honestly haven't experienc...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

CV, I'm pointing out that you seem to have some sort of vendetta against Merlin despite them doing a lot of things correctly as of recent. Everyone been begging for a wooden coaster? Bam, they got a wooden coaster. Everyone been begging for a quality dark ride? Bam, they chucked around £40 Million a...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

Do you want some chips with that salt, CV?

I think the VR experience looks pretty good to be honest, I do enjoy VR when it's done right as it seems to have been here :)

Re: Busch Gardens Tampa

The TLC program is a pretty good start in terms of Merlin's maintenance. They spent £1 Million on getting a single authentic stone for Warwick Castle, Thorpe Park are doing everything in their power to sort out DBGT but cannot justify the cost for Loggers Leap and such. Chessington are revamping Dra...

Re: Busch Gardens Tampa

Where has the saltiness for Merlin even stemmed from? They have done brilliantly in my opinion. Around £40 Mil spent on an innovative dark ride, refurbishments at a family theme park, new attractions and hotels constantly opening with better than average theming. The thing people forget is that it i...

Very exciting to see the initial lift structure up, can't wait to see the rest of it finished as well as the rest of the ride as I firmly believe it will be near completion by the Fireworks event :)

Re: Kings Island

That soundtrack is very Derren Browns Ghost Train, although I like the way it sounds I do wish they'd made something a lot more unique for Mystic Timbers, as it's definitely a ride that deserves it
