Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

Great photos, Justin!  The wrapped up pieces... I wonder why those  pieces specifically need extra protection? Could these possibly be moving elements? Getting exited now! I'd be more inclined to say these are in the finished state or have had some paint primer already painted on. The protection th...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

I believe that you are correct in that it will look like the figure is breaking out of the ground. On some higher quality photos that can't be posted onto the forum yet you can see some rockwork along the top of the structure, near the horns. This will add to the effect of the figure bursting out f...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

I'm sure you have noted the complete lack of banking on the turn which would suggest a low speed at this point, hopefully this is for a reason or another banked section will be added on top,  rather than the coaster slowing down... :nervious: Hopefully, it's just an area where the speed will still ...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

Forgive me if I've missed a glaring sign, but where has all the Wickerman speculation come from?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Just a quick question really.... Am I right in thinking this is the worlds first self-duelling coaster if it does duel? by self dueling do you mean that its the first one to duel without 2 tracks? eh I don't think it will be. There must be another one. Wasn't there duelling dragons, or as I believe...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

also hints of a second worlds first here: http://www.behindthethemes.org/smiler-coaster/ " the second world first element has been kept under wraps since construction began back in September " Yes, but that report also said it was written on the 11th may... Perhaps not to be trusted ...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

All of which logically can only point to one thing: deliberate rolling back on the 1st hill and a freefall on the vertical, it's the only logical reason the fins are there in my mind But it doesn't. Please explain your reasonings to why you think this. You yourself have said that chain lifts can no...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

ROLLER COASTERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO REVERSE DOWN THE LIFT IN AN EMERGENCY! Go back a couple posts/pages in this very topic. There are two videos. One of Maverick reversing down the lift hill and the second, I can't remember. Anyways, they can and they do. There's no point saying that they have to st...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I can see this being an ongoing disagreement right up until the media day, in which I hope somebody asks them what they are for. If they where there for a freefall drop, then why do they go up 90% of the lift hill? Why wouldn't they stop half way up so there is actually abit of freefall? In relation...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Are we 100% sure they were staff? I was there on Saturday and three people were up at the top of the vertical lift hill that day for a number of hours. Maybe the evacuation carts main purpose in The Smilers sense is that its there for ease of access to the top of the lift hill to check components a...

Great pictures so far guys! Sounds stupid, but If they do add the black swirls to the tickler, how will they do it. Spray paint?

They wont be adding them.

If they were to have yellow and black swirls it would've been done when the brushes where made. They just use different coloured bristles.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

What's proved it is the fact that they went all out and cut into the roof... Only to now find out the pieces are misaligned by the same amount they cut into the roof, you're seriously not suggesting 99% of the track is 6 inch too high and the one price that was so low it had to cut the roof is the ...

Do we think that realistically we could see the full vertical lift erected by the end of the day, or is that too ambitious?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Off topic, but will there be a height limit on the Smiler? There has to be a height barrier in place yes. But there arnt too many people that are normally too tall for a ride. I'm unsure of the height limit but I say it would be around the 7' mark. i think 1,40 metters. 1.4m is the minimum height. ...
