Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

I outright refuse to pay anything extra to experience this if they go down the route of an upcharge attraction. The park is already terrible value for money. When will they learn that actor led attractions arent sustainable? Give it one season and I guarantee they’ll have removed the actors due to c...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - Quick Questions

I’m going in fancy dress this year, me and my work colleagues are going as the Addams Family. I’m gonna be Pugsley :lol

Re: Project 2020

A bit of totally random speculation here as this could be a genuine teaser, or simply Thorpe messing with us. However, I was looking at the description for Terror at Amity High and noticed a familiar name in the description: NEW for 2018, It’s Big Bob’s Homecoming Bash , and the teens of Amity Cove...

Re: Project 2020

They only started deconstruction of The Flume during winter 2016 so it could still be on Logger’s site. If anything, I’d have expected to see planning permission by now. With Merlin saying a while back that they were cutting investment into the Resort Theme Parks, it makes me doubt wether we’ll even...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

What is good to see is how true the finished product stayed to the concept. When you look at the likes of The Smiler and Air and see what could have been, this really is great.

Re: Inside Alton Towers - General Discussion

If I’m honest, I was really disappointed with this documentary. I was expecting something similar to The Magic Factory but it felt nothing like it. It could have been so much more, it could have shown the day to day operation of the rides, especially The Smiler, to show the GP what goes into operati...

Re: ‘Stargazing Pods’ Accommodation Discussion

They look like something from B&Q. This really is a terrible idea, and completely unnecessary. There are so many issues that need sorting with the theme park and existing hotels before building more accommodation.

Re: Rate the Rollercoasters (2018 Edition)

1. Wicker Man  2. The Smiler  3. Rita 4. Oblivion  5. Nemesis  6. Air  7. Spinball  8. RMT  9. Th13teen  My prediction of Wicker Man being either 1 or 2 was correct. I’ve also had a bit of a reshuffle since my previous post so a few have changed position. I appreciate the theming and technological i...

The same thing happened with me in 2012. The teachers gave us an emergency phone number and told us to meet back on Towers Street at 4:30 :lol

Yeah I saw that. Figment are the company who supplied the VR movies, hardware and integration for Galactica. I guess VR isn't going away any time soon if they're still involved?

That’s a shame. I was hoping to see it fully removed next season :(

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

I can't see the rapids going anytime soon, but simply this is because they won't be building a new rollercoaster anytime soon. But if they can't get it back up and running fully for whatever reason, it feels like it starts to lose its purpose and may well go. The Flume was left SBNO for a full seas...

I believe they did ID checks last year however I am not certain.

They ID’d me last year and I had to produce my driving license, so I assume the same will be done this year.

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

It clearly says it won’t be a resort attraction and that it will be on the theme park but never mind. Either way, my original point still stands. If Merlin go down the up charge resort attraction, then it will be a couple of years max before it either becomes seasonal, has staff cut, or is closed.

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

It won’t be a resort attraction. It’ll be on the theme park, likely following a similar operational method as the Dungeons at Warwick Castle. VIP and Premium Pass holders will go through it for free but will have to reserve a time slot, whereas Standard Pass holders and day ticket guests will have ...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

There won't be an upcharge, because as a permanent theme park attraction where queueing is normal and expected of guests, they don't have any reason other than greed to implement an upcharge, even if they do want to trial a free  virtual queuing or time slot system. To be honest, I feel as though I...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

The Resort currently can’t afford to run all its non-theme park attractions (I.e. Tree Top Quest) so making this a non-theme Park attraction would be the wrong thing to do in my opinion. It would be like the whole ‘building new hotels despite not having enough demand to fill the current ones’ situat...

Re: Colossus

I’d love to see a Hulk style refurb with a complete retrack and new trains. The layout for Colossus is fun and it’s one I really like but I doubt it would happen, this is Merlin and maintenance isn’t their strong point.

Or you could just, you know, not go in the upcharge attractions.

So there’d be no point going because there’d be nothing new for me to experience.

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

It’s safe to say that if this is an up charge attraction, I won’t be visiting next year. It’s already terrible value for money without adding another up charge attraction.
