Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

I don’t get it, the main feature of the ride is the fire. It’s like removing an inversion from The Smiler and still saying it’s a 14 looping rollercoaster.

I said this would happen, it would only be so long before the cost cuts start. Typical Merlin. I just didn’t expect it to be only two months in.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Also found one operating difference that's strange between Thorpe and Alton. At Thorpe every unoccupied seat with a seatbelt has that belt done up and checked. At Alton, the seatbelts are just left dangling. Did the one up next to me on Nemesis as didn't particularly want it waving around during th...

Ohh, is this because of the crash in 2015? If so, that was what I was thinking might have been the case.

Yeah. The park had a new train (number 4) built after the incident.

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

This time not as subtly, I see. Slowly becoming more convinced too. It's probably something to do with either whatever is happening this summer, Fright Nights, or is a new name for Project 2020.. I really hope that it is something to do with Project 2020. After visiting the park this week, it’s cle...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Don’t forget, train 4 was built two/three years after the originals. It’s bound to be slightly different. The restraints may have some slightly more advanced sensors, for example.

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

There’s been another post with a 0 instead of an O. This makes me think the Project Zer0 thing may have some validity.

Re: Rate the Rollercoasters (2018 Edition)

1 The Smiler
2 Nemesis
3 Oblivion
4 Air
5 Rita
6 Th13teen
7 Spinball
8 RMT

I haven’t experienced Wicker Man yet but I imagine it will be either 1 or 2 by the look of it.

Something themed around the Enchanted Village would work really well in CCL.

Re: Oblivion - General Discussion

Does anybody know why Oblivion is down for the second day in a row? Just curious as I’m visiting on Saturday and hope that it is open by then. They probably can’t afford to run it :lol It may be waiting on a part. Out of all the B&Ms at Towers, Oblivion seems to be the least reliable. It always...

Re: The Alton Towers Park Map

Yeah, I'm not mad keen on this map, the big roller coasters, whilst obviously bigger, are just too big on this map, Wicker Man looks like it is 1/8th of the park all by itself. Also, it makes the rest of the park look small, like those are the only rides worth bothering with. That’s because there’s...

Re: SW9

I doubt they will do a winged coaster as Thorpe park just got one and Alton seem to get the latest and try for "first in UK" The Swarm opened 6 years ago, so this wouldn’t be the reason why they wouldn’t go for a wing coaster. The reason would be more the large footprint a wing coaster ne...

Re: SW9

Where's the most likely location and manufacturer for SW9 The park themselves don’t even know this yet as there has been no development started at all. They said they have plans for 2019 and then they will start SW9 after that so at this time, it could be anything. Obviously we won’t be getting a B...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

I have been a bit nervous the last few days as I am going to Alton Towers on Thursdays. I am not nervous of the ride itself but on the fact that if I am going to fit on the ride as I admit I am a bit overweight. Should I be nervous or am I worrying about nothing? Alex from TPW is over 6’ tall and h...

Re: The Future of Nemesis Sub-Terra

Well I don't see how. If they open Hex, then they'd sure open N:ST. They wouldn't open 1 indoor ride then not open another, but I don't know. It's a shame that N:ST isn't opening this year. Hope it opens in 2019... Rides such as Duel we’re closed over the weekend due to the risk of falling trees wi...

Re: The Future of Nemesis Sub-Terra

No it wouldn't, as Hex and Duel are also closed, probably due to them being relatively far away from everything else that is open at the park. Hex has been open over this weekend. However, I imagine that had Sub-Terra been part of the 2018 ride line-up, it would have remained closed for the reason ...

Re: Towers Loving Care

It all looks good, yes, but it should all be under the guise of routine maintenance, as opposed to "loving care".   I agree completely. There are also other areas of the park (such as The Smiler) that need attention more than Duel. This is all well and good, but as Kraken said, it shouldn...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Air used to run in the snow during FHT. It’s Rita and Th13teen that have issues with the cold I believe, due to the use of magnetic breaks I presume.

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - Quick Questions

My advice would be don't compare the two. Go to Thorpe without a set idea of what to expect. But from my own personal view point, I think TP is vastly better than AT. The fact you don't have to walk miles just to get from one side of the park to the other is definitely the one thing you will really...
