Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

I’m gonna order a copy when I get paid on Friday but I’ve been on to see how much it would be including shipping. I put my address in to do so and then I went to the payment screen so I just closed the tab on my iPad without putting any card details in yet 10 minutes later, I got a payment confirmat...

Re: SW8 Speculation and General Discussion

If the trains were to have been delivered.. which way to Alton would you think would of been the route.. A50 to Uttoxeter and up through Alton.. or the back ways through Ashbourne.. I didn't want to say anything because I thought it wouldn't of been the trains, however on my way back home from work...

Re: SW8 Speculation and General Discussion

I would imagine if the ride is done, the trains should be there either now or in the next week. The Smiler was really behind at this point, so I wouldn’t look at it as an accurate reflection on when SW8’s trains will be there! :) However, The Smiler’s trains were delivered and stored near the Skyri...

I'd imagine trains would be delivered some time in January, but we probably won't see them for a good while.

That would make sense. The Smiler’s trains were delivered in January I believe so SW8 will most likely follow suit.

Re: SW8 Speculation and General Discussion

I’m sure the planning documents stated the ride would be finished by December to allow for testing and training to begin. I may just be making that up though so correct me if I’m wrong.

Re: X:\ No Way Out

I’m getting pretty fed up with Merlín to be honest. Yet another horror theme and an IP. It’s just laziness and using a gimmick for the sake of it. I do like the Walking Dead but if you’re not a fan, you won’t understand the theme so it seems a silly move to remove a family themed ride (which, in com...

Re: Oblivion - General Discussion

No I have not :lol That is a very rough B&M, the roughest I have ridden.  Oblivion is, in my opinion, a very smooth ride and like others have said, the simplicity of the ride is what makes it. Oblivion is the only ride that makes me feel like I did when I first rode it. I always get nervous on ...

Re: Oblivion - General Discussion

I also love the drop on Oblivion and I find the pop of airtime before hitting the brakes very satisfying!  Its joint second with Nemesis in terms of Big Six rankings in my opinion. Having said that, it is the roughest B&M coaster I have done. It isn't terribly rough but there is a fair share of...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

This video  is linked to on the SW8/Welcoming site - what's up with the music? I can't tell if it's just music from the welcoming, or if it's the first glimpse we might be getting of the ride's soundtrack. Sounds... weird  :| It sounds something out of Dark Forest aha, I didn't go to Scarefest this...

Nick Thompson has said that the current ride cars on Steeplechase won’t be replaced with the new ones.

I think it really is ridiculous that they have to close one hotel because they can’t fill it yet they keep building hotels!?

Re: What do you think should replace CCL?

Agreed, having a western area in the UK would be like having a beach party in Birmingham Town Centre. I'd quite like them to keep the theme the same, however completely redesign the area. Cuckoo Cars injected a bit of life into the area, but thats really not going to last unless they invest in some...

Re: What do you think should replace CCL?

I think a theme that Alton is really missing is a western theme so I think a western town similar to that of Far West at PortAventura would really work well in CCL.

Re: Future of the Monorail

I recall something about both the Monorail and the Skyride being in line to have some TLC over this closed season but I can’t remember where I read it or if I actually did? I’m pretty sure there was something because I remember suggesting somewhere that the trains of the monorail should be themed to...

Re: SW8 Speculation and General Discussion

Everyone believed The Smiler was going to be called The Innoculator or The Marmaliser because these names were trademarked in a similar style so until Alton Towers confirms the name, it is not a definite that the ride will be called Wickerman.
