Yeah I saw that. Figment are the company who supplied the VR movies, hardware and integration for Galactica. I guess VR isn't going away any time soon if they're still involved?

That’s a shame. I was hoping to see it fully removed next season :(

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

I can't see the rapids going anytime soon, but simply this is because they won't be building a new rollercoaster anytime soon. But if they can't get it back up and running fully for whatever reason, it feels like it starts to lose its purpose and may well go. The Flume was left SBNO for a full seas...

They ID’d me last year and I had to produce my driving license, so I assume the same will be done this year.

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

It clearly says it won’t be a resort attraction and that it will be on the theme park but never mind. Either way, my original point still stands. If Merlin go down the up charge resort attraction, then it will be a couple of years max before it either becomes seasonal, has staff cut, or is closed.

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

It won’t be a resort attraction. It’ll be on the theme park, likely following a similar operational method as the Dungeons at Warwick Castle. VIP and Premium Pass holders will go through it for free but will have to reserve a time slot, whereas Standard Pass holders and day ticket guests will have ...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

There won't be an upcharge, because as a permanent theme park attraction where queueing is normal and expected of guests, they don't have any reason other than greed to implement an upcharge, even if they do want to trial a free  virtual queuing or time slot system. To be honest, I feel as though I...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

The Resort currently can’t afford to run all its non-theme park attractions (I.e. Tree Top Quest) so making this a non-theme Park attraction would be the wrong thing to do in my opinion. It would be like the whole ‘building new hotels despite not having enough demand to fill the current ones’ situat...

Re: Colossus

I’d love to see a Hulk style refurb with a complete retrack and new trains. The layout for Colossus is fun and it’s one I really like but I doubt it would happen, this is Merlin and maintenance isn’t their strong point.

Or you could just, you know, not go in the upcharge attractions.

So there’d be no point going because there’d be nothing new for me to experience.

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

It’s safe to say that if this is an up charge attraction, I won’t be visiting next year. It’s already terrible value for money without adding another up charge attraction.

I wouldn’t waste your time. Merlin will not listen to anything you say. Guest experience does not matter to them.

Isn’t it a coincidence that the second train is “in maintenance” during the “off peak” period (which wasn’t off peak at all last week). And now it’s all of a sudden back...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

I don’t get it, the main feature of the ride is the fire. It’s like removing an inversion from The Smiler and still saying it’s a 14 looping rollercoaster.

I said this would happen, it would only be so long before the cost cuts start. Typical Merlin. I just didn’t expect it to be only two months in.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Also found one operating difference that's strange between Thorpe and Alton. At Thorpe every unoccupied seat with a seatbelt has that belt done up and checked. At Alton, the seatbelts are just left dangling. Did the one up next to me on Nemesis as didn't particularly want it waving around during th...

Ohh, is this because of the crash in 2015? If so, that was what I was thinking might have been the case.

Yeah. The park had a new train (number 4) built after the incident.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Don’t forget, train 4 was built two/three years after the originals. It’s bound to be slightly different. The restraints may have some slightly more advanced sensors, for example.

1 The Smiler
2 Nemesis
3 Oblivion
4 Air
5 Rita
6 Th13teen
7 Spinball
8 RMT

I haven’t experienced Wicker Man yet but I imagine it will be either 1 or 2 by the look of it.

Something themed around the Enchanted Village would work really well in CCL.

Re: Oblivion - General Discussion

Does anybody know why Oblivion is down for the second day in a row? Just curious as I’m visiting on Saturday and hope that it is open by then. They probably can’t afford to run it :lol It may be waiting on a part. Out of all the B&Ms at Towers, Oblivion seems to be the least reliable. It always...
