Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Yeah I thought that might be a little too long for a secondary attraction. I think it works at Warwick because there's nothing to do there. There's loads at towers so an hour out of the day is still a really big impact Actually, there is quite a lot to do at Warwick, especially if you visit in peak...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

I really don't think The Alton Towers Dungeon will have a show time of 90-120 minutes. It's much more likely to be 45 - 50 minutes, the same as the Warwick Castle Dungeon. As Justin mentioned, the Warwick Castle Dungeon works well with their time slot system - being local to Warwick I've done their ...

Re: Phantasialand

RCDB have changed the estimated opening date for FLY to 2020. Whilst there has been nothing official from the park, it is looking less and less likely that FLY and the surrounding area will be ready for 2019. Phantasialand do tend to work to their own timeline and don't commit to an opening date un...

Re: I'm a Celebrity! Get Me Out Of Here

I've only ever done the attraction three times, once on its media night, once later on in its debut season, and then a couple of years later. Whilst it did have very good interior theming, and there was a clear effort to keep the trials up to date and fresh, for me it never quite worked. It also jus...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

I totally agree that Wicker Man was absolutely the right choice for the theme park. It's a solid ride which appeals to a wide audience, especially with it having the 1.2 metre height restriction as opposed to a 1.4 metre restriction. The ride really showcases what Merlin can do when they get things ...

LEGOLAND Korea

Merlin Entertaiments have today announced plans to open a new LEGOLAND theme park in South Korea. In a post on their Linked In profile , as well as via a press release on their website , Merlin confirmed that the new park will open by 2022. LEGOLAND Korea will be located one hour east of Seoul on th...

Re: Rita - General Discussion

I have a kind of love/hate relationship with Rita. It was the first ever coaster I did at Alton Towers when I first visited in 2005, and when the coaster was shiny and new! I really enjoyed it then, however as time has gone on that enjoyment has decreased more and more. It just seems to have got rou...

Whilst it's been known that Gwazi will be getting the RMC treatment for a while, today has seen the official permits issued (the US version of planning permission) for the conversion of Gwazi into an RMC coaster, as confimed by Bill @ Touring Central Florida on Twitter . Whilst there has been some p...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

Interesting is that the membership price is less than paying it all in one go? That seems, strange. I suspect that is a way of trying to encourage families to use the scheme as, unlike with the Annual Pass, there isn't the option to have a family membership at a discounted rate. I've not had time t...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

This evening, Alton Towers posted a short teaser video on their social media channels for 'Wicker Man Winter', asking if "you are ready to reignite with the chosen ones". Whilst it doesn't give much away, the tone of the post and the video seems to suggest that Wicker Man may potentially b...

Blackpool Council have announced a new. £300 million, development on a 'landmark location' on The Golden Mile - Blackpool Central . Re: Tayto Park

The new roller-coaster will be two roller-coasters in one. It will be a first for Europe and ensure the future of the park. If you don’t create something landmark every three of four years, your numbers will start going down and that is the road to closure. Having had a read through of the article ...

Sadly that won't mean a thing. Google Maps uses public edits to help keep its maps up to date, therefore anyone can submit suggestions and 90% of the time Google will add them. It's far more likely that an enthusiast will have made the edit knowing it will be picked up on rather than anything offici...

Re: Project 2020

As much as I'd love to think Thorpe are teasing a wooden coaster, I really wouldn't read too much into the instagram posts. The coaster silhouette is just a generic graphic sadly so it's more likely just a filler post for the first day of December. It is kind of sad though that it has been so long s...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

It may be possible that we'll see a similar format to the dungeon at Warwick Castle which uses some generic dungeons rooms with scripts adjusted to fit, but then also at least one room which is unique to Warwick In Warwick's case it's the finale featuring Mol Bloxham. Those who know the stor...

How do you reveal the train design for your new roller coaster when the train itself isn't ready and you want to reveal it at IAAPA? Simple - make the train in cake form of course! The train design for Tigris, the Premier Rides Sky Rocket coaster due to open next year, has been revealed at IAAPA tod...
