Re: SW8 Speculation and General Discussion

That seems a rather drastic step to hide the ride. It does make me wonder just what it is they will be wanting to hide as the track is complete, and the theming structure was in place. Perhaps they're being extra cautious and making sure no one can see the trains if they happen to be on the track an...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

As reported on SouthParks News , the next round of consultations for the London Resport project have been delayed once again with them now due to take place in the second quarter of 2018 (April-June). Whilst on the face of it this doesn't seem like a huge delay (they were previously scheduled for Ja...

Re: Disney to purchase 20th Century Fox

I have mixed feelings about this latest aquisition by Disney. It will no doubt be of significant benefit to have access to the almost full catalogue of Marvel characters, although I'm not sure quite how they'll work them into the Marvel Cinematic Universe given there are already 3 Fantastic Four fil...

Just a quick reminder that Alton Towers opening day on March 17th will be a meet up, not an event :)

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

I suspect it's a case of Sunday's having shorter hours to partially off-set the later opening on Thursday/Friday/Saturday. I do suspect that these will not be the final version of the opening times, I really wouldn't be surprised to see some changes to these hours before the start of the season and ...

Re: Chessington - General Discussion

As posted on SouthParks News , Chessington have published their provisional opening times for 2018. The MAP weekend is set to be 10th-11th March, with the Resort opening fully on 17th March. Whilst there isn't a huge amount of difference to 2017's hours, it does look like we may be getting an additi...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

As reported on SouthParks News , the provisional opening times have been revealed for Thorpe Park Resort. The Resort will open on 23rd March 2018. Interestingly, there appears to be a number of 10am-10pm days in the peak summer season, however these seem to be being paid for with additional closed d...

Re: X:\ No Way Out

X is set to get a re-theme for the 2018 season. As reported by SouthParks News , the existing entrance pyramid is to be demolished and replaced with a new watch tower entrance. This watch tower will include a new baggage hold and pre-show. Whilst the new theme hasn't been confirmed, the project name...

Re: Merlin General Discussion

Sadly this relegation doesn't surprise me. Whilst I'm definitely no expert on the stock exchange and the value of companies, it seems Merlin are just making poor decisions at the moment when it comes to their overall strategy for growing the company. Yes, accommodation can offer a large return on in...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train

When SouthParks had the talk at our Summer Sizzler event the throughput of DBGT was mentioned. According to the notes I took, the ride should have a throughput of between 8-900 people an hour, however, realistically has only been hitting 700 people per hour. I will admit I was surprised at how low t...

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

Universal Orlando have just announced a new hotel complex which, if I have my Orlando geography correct, will be constructed on the site of the former Wet 'n' Wild water park and feature two hotels. According to the announcement, prices will start from under $100 a night, making it Universal's cheap...

Re: Fireworks

Having seen the show both days I was very impressed with this year's fireworks. Whilst it didn't use the screens or projections like they have in previous years, I really liked how the focus was on the fireworks themselves and creating a stunning spectacle with them. Using the theme of what Towers m...

Re: Scarefest

The Welcoming is very much intended to be more of a theatrical maze rather than a maze which is overly scary. In terms of 'set pieces', you have the stage area in the first section, then as you make your way through you have the giant pig/dog on the spit roast, the 'trial scene' where you ha...

Disneyland Paris have officially confirmed on their website that Disney's hotel New York is to close in October 2018 in order for a full re-theme and refurbishment to be carried out which will see the hotel become based on 'the art of Marvel. The hotel will re-open at some point in 2020 “We’re alway...
