Re: Warwick Castle

It would appear that Warwick Castle have upset Warwick District Council over the addition of the Horrible Histories Maze. The Castle have had to submit a retrospective planning application for the addition due to the 7 metre long Viking boat requiring planning permission. The application was conside...

Re: ‘Stargazing Pods’ Accommodation Discussion

I'm really not sure what to make of these. It kind of seems like Merlin wanted to add something like the Glamping Chessington and Warwick Castle have, but knew they couldn't really install tents at Alton Towers, therefore have gone for the pods instead as a kind of next step up. Whilst the accomodat...

Re: EnergyLandia

First and foremost, thoughts have to be with the family of the employee. It's an awful thing to have happened. I expect Hyperion will be closed for at least a short while to allow for investigations to take place. The first thought that came into my mind was how was an amployee allowed into the ride...

Re: EnergyLandia

It's been confirmed that a 37 year old park employee has been killed whilst he was attempting to retrieve a mobile phone. Below is a rough translation from a local news site: - At. 20.30 one of the employees of Energyland saw that one of the guests had a mobile phone. He wanted to pick him up and th...

Re: Planning: Kentucky Kingdom, Holiday World, Kings Island, Cedar Point road trip 2020

7 days is quite a short time to fit all of those in, and have rest days. In terms of route, the most logical one would be to do Holiday World, Kentucky Kingdom, Kings Island, and Cedar Point. I would strongly advise doing Cedar Point last as otherwise you risk having the other parks overshadowed by ...

Re: Congo River Rapids - General Discussion

If the Resort did want to go down the route of using seatbelts, then they could look at using a similar design to Dollywood. Dollywood's rapids utilise a velcro style seatbelt which is enough to ensure guests remain seated, however in the event of an accident they would easily be able to be released...

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Going to Blackpool in a couple of days and I was wondering if they have a photopass/digipass or something like the 3 for £20 deal. Anybody know if they do? I believe they do do a Digipass and multi buy details on photos. I'm afraid I can't remember exactly what though as I didn't click on the optio...

Re: Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom

Tron is now programming.... The Disney Parks Blog have given us the first update on the Tron Lightcycle coaster which is now under construction at Magic Kingdom. The update details some changes and closures to existing attractions to allow for construction to take place. First, the Walt Disney World...

Will the Wicker Man talks be available on YouTube in the future?

I'm afraid they won't be available this time. Due to the nature of some of the things included we were asked not to film the talks on this occasion.

Re: Cedar Point

I was fortunate enough to be able to ride Steel Vengeance last week and all I can say is wow! The coaster is just incredible no matter where you sit, although I would say that the ride I had at 11pm at night was definitely the most intense. From the start to the end there is very little let up, it'...

Re: Scarefest - General Discussion

I've finally caught up with all the Scarefest announcements having been away in the US when everything was announced. It's certainly good to see a number of new additions to the Scarefest line-up, not just in terms of a new maze, but also to the family line-up and general atmosphere across the park....

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

To save it burning a hole in Merlin's pockets, I presume... From what I understand the fire being off is NOT a cost saving measure, I've heard a couple of rumours as to why it's having to be left off, however without something more definitive to back those up I'm reluctant to post those rumoured re...

Re: Colossus

As rough as Colossus is, can Thorpe really afford to lose it right now? With Loggers Leap clearly not returning, if Colossus did close for good that would be the loss of two major rides without replacement. Whilst you could argue we've gained DBGT, it really can't be compared to the likes of a major...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - The Future

Thorpe do have a few different potential locations for any new coaster. As welll as the areas already mentioned, there is also the island behind The Swarm, and if I recall correctly the Resort have also identified the area behind The Dome, where the current Thrills Workshop sits, as a possible locat...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Going to Towers next week, is filming allowed in Wicker Man's pre-show and station, say with a mobile phone?  The official policy for the pre-show is that no filming is allowed. In the station is normally ok, provided your phone is put in a safe and secure place whilst you ride the coaster (for exa...
