Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

They don't make bad coasters, but from the multiple I've ridden, they don't make fantastic coasters either. Should'a been an RMC! I'm sure it'll be great regardless. If it wasn't for the Smiler crash then it probably would have been a launched RMC with inversions in Forbidden Valley that the origin...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

[quote="Dan"]I'm well aware that it's using launch technology for the lift however if the sole reason for doing so is to make the lift incline silent then I'm sorry but it just isn't a launch. To set all arguments aside, shall we just settle on saying its a "propulsion"? [emoji3...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

If it is for construction for the coaster then I think it isnt just your average family woodie... This may include deconstruction costs, not to mention the tech used in the launch hill will be a first for Alton and GCI so that may be what we have a large figure for. Fingers crossed theming will be ...

Re: SW8

I think sw8 will be another good assett to the park in my opinion. It'll make it a good balance between family thrill rides and intense rides. Just my opinion though

Re: 2017: New Attractions

What other flat rides would people want to see at Towers? I've heard people mention a topscan or a suspended topspin. They won't put a top scan in as Mondial haven't built one for about a decade and I know they've had interest but they say there discontinued. Huss aren't doing much these days eithe...

Re: SW8

I distintly remember reading in John Wardleys book that Nick Varney would never build a wooden rollercoaster due to the perception of the GP. As the post above says, this must have an insane marketing campaign and USP if Varney has agreed to do this especially after the Smiler accident so I presume...

Re: The Future of Nemesis Sub-Terra

All theses rides are closed cause of 2 things: 1) The amount of staff they take to operate 2) To keep the bills down Not true. It's because of issues with the harnesses being too loose, people were trying to get out at the lower level and if they did so getting crushed by the massive sheet of metal...

Re: The Future of Nemesis Sub-Terra

It depends how much it's costing them if it'd be cost effective to be removed. It was a very small investment as far as rides go. I personally like it because it's different. But I've heard that it's probably going to be shut for good. It'd surprise me if they moved it to another park etc because af...

Re: SW8

Think everyone needs to calm down Alton and GCI would've thought of every eventuality so I wouldn't worry about the wood. Wooden doors hold up for decades just fine. It's no different to a coaster

Re: SW8

Plans won't change drastically as they were used to planning permission and unless you re-apply there isn't MUCH room for change. However it does all depend on what the planning is like in that specific area of the park, as it can differ from others. But like I say I wouldn't expect too much of a ch...

Re: SW8

If they call it Runaway Mine Train 2 Electric Boogaloo I will go every single day for the entire season. Especially if the centerpiece is a giant dancing robot with an afro that watches you as you speed around the track, and does the finger snap and point as you pull into the station :D Yeah the th...

Re: SW8

I'm going to be totally honest, I'm worried about SW8. I'm worried about the speculated theme, I'm worried about the quality of the ride itself, I'm worried about reliability, throughput, popularity and much more. Because at the moment this ride is looking to be the most disappointing SW thus far. ...

Re: SW8

I'm still trying to figure out what the world's/UK's first element will be (assuming it will have one). It's certainly very well hidden in the plans. Maybe it will just be "world's first coaster themed around the burning of live humans to be located between two family areas." Who knows? I...

Re: SW8

Thirteen taught us it leads to disappointment. For enthusiasts maybe, but not for people in Merlin's boardroom. Th13teen did great things for park attendance. Here lies the problem. I think th13teen is a fantastic addition to the park and did deserve a SW codename Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: SW8

Hopefully things should start moving soon as I remember them saying on the application construction to start in Sept 2016. Knowing Alton Towers, they've got something up their sleeve, and all is probably not as it seems......

It was most likely a temporary one, perhaps they were doing something inside in preparation ;)

The towers are closed for construction of the mazes. And I don't think it's fair to say sub species just because there's a bridge there. It could be anything :)

Re: The Future Of Scarefest

That's a shame. I'd love for them to bring the Sanctuary back, definitely looked like my kinda thing. The sanctuary was incredible. But it was a build up for the smiler originally and because they will be wanting to slowly brings people's attention to SW8 within the coming months/year I can't see t...
