Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

We went to AT on Friday (I took my 11 year old daughter and two friends). Unfortunately, for the first time since my first visit in 1990, it wasn't a great trip. The weather obviously didn't help, but it was a few things which just seemed to add up over the day. - Smiler wasn't open (I don't think i...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

1- it’s exactly where the old flume entrance used to be. Just to the side of mutiny bay. It’s pretty much where it says it is on the map 2- I’d honestly say go closer to 9 especially if you’re walking from the car parks the queues for ticket pickup can be long 3- I suggest you order your passes onl...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Howdy all, I'm off to AT tomorrow with 3 children. Looking forward to it all (and hopefully persuading them all to try the WM. Couple of quick questions. 1 - Where is the actual entrance to WM? Do I need to walk around to where the Runaway Mine Train area is? 2 - We're planning on arriving at AT for...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Nice. I imagine we can, but if we leave the park to go on the course, can we then come back in later?

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Hi. Me again.

Question about the low ropes course. We've not done it before, but thought it could be fun. Can I book when I get to the park? Also, how far away is it - as in, how do we even get there? Not sure how long it would take, so not sure when is best to book.

Cheers

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Cool. We'll try a few times.

I didn't realise there was no Flume. Is Hex shut as well? Just thinking about one of my daughters (1.32m) who doesn't have as much to go on.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

So we're making our first trip to Towers this weekend (first trip of the year, not ever!). Going Sat & Sun. I take it the queue times for Smiler and Galactica are the biggest? I imagine we'll head straight for Galactica on Saturday. Hoping the queue won't be too long if we get there for 9:30. An...

Re: Alton Towers - Quick Questions

Two quick questions -

1 - Has anyone used the food vouchers on the AT site? I take it you just print them off and hand them in.

2 - Can you get Fastrack tickets on single coasters besides Smiler or do you have to get a package of 3/4? I'm thinking 13 in particular.

Re: 2014 Scarefest

Are there any early rider rides during Scarefest or does everything just go at 10am?

Re: 2014 Scarefest

On Sunday when we got onto the park at about 10:30 The Smilers queue was already at 100 minutes. Sub-Terra is a dark ride with a small strobe-maze section at the end, although if it's being ran how it was last weekend I would give it a miss :) Thanks Dan. I plan to in the car park for 9am, so will ...

Re: 2014 Scarefest

Cheers for the reply to my questions. Is the Smiler queue quite big even if we get into the park early and go straight there? I understand there are no ERT during Scarefest, so thought if we got to the ticket gates for pre-9:30 then ran straight to Smiler, we might not have too big a queue. Then pos...

Re: Is Alton Towers losing its Magic?

I don't think it is at all.

I took my daughter to Thorpe Park in August and couldn't believe how 'unmagical' it felt compared to Towers.

Re: 2014 Scarefest

Right. First off, thank you for any comments/help you guys can give. I've asked some of these things before, but as it's closer to the visit I thought I'd check. I'm visiting this Saturday (rain predicted atm). We'll have a few children with us, but they aren't too bothered about the mazes (not old ...

Re: 2014 Scarefest

Howdy all. I was hoping you AT expperts might be able to help me out. We are looking to visit AT for Scarefest this year having never done it before. I just have a couple of questions. 1 - Can you buy tickets on the day still using BOGOF vouchers (like the ones on cereal boxes)? 2 - Are then any 'ex...

Re: Single Rider Queues

I've always found Oblivion really quick. Practically walk on. I usually go round twice as it's such a short wait.

Is that the type of thing that will be completed by Monday?

Seems that loads of rides are closing down.

Re: Ride Downtime 2013

:(

Nooooooo! This sucks. Do you think it will be running by Monday. Are rides usually down that long? It is the one slightly bigger ride my daughter is tall enough to do. She'll be gutted.

Re: 2014-2019: Possible Developments?

One thing I would like to see would be rides that you need to be 1.3m to ride. Right now there is a big jump from the 1.2m - 1.4m rides. The only reason I notice this right now is that my daughter loves rollercoasters, but at 1.36m hasn't been able to ride many super fast ones yet. I also want to se...

Re: Quick Questions

Thanks for the replies.

From your experiences, what time would you say the monorail queue starts getting busy? If I'm in the car park at 8:30, will there be much of a wait?
