Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

Does anybody have a ‘birds eye view’ diagram/image of the track? It’s just that there’s a bit of discussion around the maintenance building that doesn’t seem to add up to me - don’t maintenance sheds usually have switch tracks, meaning riders don’t go in them? Or is this maintenance shed in line wit...

Travelling to/from European parks

Hi all,  Looking for some advice on how to get to/from some of Europe's best theme parks - any experience/advice you have would be personally appreciate, and I'm sure others would find it useful too! I'm looking for information such as nearest airport, where to look for hotels, transfers between air...

Re: Past rides: "Where are they now?" The Guide

Out of interest, who is Brian Collins?? Not posted on here for a long time! Think I've worked out the histories for most of Alton's past rides (including a few pre-1980 attractions) and their subsequent lives. It is a bit wordy, but hopefully interesting 8-[ Codes at the beginning of the ride histor...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

If I was to purchase tickets from Nov 5th (fireworks) could I purchase a 'bounce back' ticket on park for the 6th?

Re: Fright Nights

Hi, I have gone to scarefest at AT for the last few years, and we are not considering going to Fright Nights for a change - but having failed to find scare maze ticket prices, I wondered whether they included in park admission? If they are, is fast track needed? - typically how long are wait times? ...

Re: 2015 Scarefest

Also, last year I found the staff taking tickets at the que lines and batching groups were in character, they acted in a very eerie way and started the tension building from the very beginning.... This year however, acted normal. Just like any member of staff in a costume. If they are going to dress...

Re: 2015 Scarefest

Anybody else have an issue with no lockers at TOTT / TS? We had won some rather large cuddly items around the park which were a real pain to walk through the maze with. A bag drop off similar to most rides before the que lines (just inside the arch) would be really useful. Similar concept, leave you...

Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

Clare Stansfield is/was the head of Marketing and as you'll see from the article, she is only appointed as the interim director. Effectively she is covering the post until the next Director is appointed (which may of course be her), but still begs the question why the previous Director and Deputy bo...

Re: Alton Towers - Quick Questions

Can't find the opening times for Scarefest yet, have they been announced? Will it be 9pm closure like last year?

Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

Anybody know what's going on at Oakwood behind the scenes? The Deputy Park Director left mid season at the hight of Summer and the Park Director has left recently with (to the best of my knowledge) neither position filled or advertised. In the mean time the head of marketing has taken over as interi...

Re: Ride Downtime 2014

There's a note on Alton Towers website saying Rita will close at 5pm on 5/8/14 Scheduled maintenance? What do you think they're up to?

Re: Oakwood developments

Just googled it and found out that Oakwood have registered 'The legend of the sleepy hollow', 'The headless horseman' and 'The tree of the dead' as trade marks.. The new map with a tree in the wild west area also points to this theme. Good find ladyofthelake! They have already refitted the restauran...

Oakwood developments

Oakwood has started updating it's 'developer's diary' Facebook page in the lead up to the 2014 investment (should be in place by Whitsun). Quite a large area fenced off over in the Wild West area, I'd put good money to say there's going to be a rollercoaster this year, something family sized with go...

Re: 2014 New UK Attractions

There is a picture with what looks to be Camelots old tea cups. Indoor maybe? If it is a Teacups, they are making a hell of a lot of hype over a small children's ride. Doubt it's just Teacups, rather a large area to occupy a relatively small ride. http://rs1291.pbsrc.com/albums/b549/Rhodri_Thomas/M...

Re: 2014 New UK Attractions

About Oakwood: What is happening to that rather odd brer rabbit dark ride. Good question.. but the are photographed with the quote "Will this still be standing in 2014" does back onto Brer rabbit. Can only speculate at this stage, but I'd guess the two area's will be linked up with Brer r...

Re: 2014 New UK Attractions

Oakwood have released some pictures on their 'Developers Diary' Facebook page alluding to this year's investment. From what I can make out, work seems to be centred on the old animatronic theatre (which has been empty/used as storage over the last few years or so). The photo asks whether it will be ...

Re: When do you think rides will go?

TH13TEEN - 2035 - I think 13 will last quite a while, but when bigger rides start opening at the park over the years it could come unpopular. I think you've missed the point of Th13teen, it's not meant to be a big ride, it's the "middle ground" between Children and Teenagers - it's meant ...

Re: 2014 new uk attractions

Well Oakwood are in the second year of a 5 year development, and closed the Brer Rabbit dark ride a few weeks before the end of the season in preparation for this years development. We have been promised regular updates through their 'developers diary' facebook page in the new year, so watch this sp...

Re: Oakwood 2014

I think we should expect a retheme. Oakwood spent quite a bit this year so I think we will see something new but nothing major next year (remember it's only a small park, Aspro don't have a budget like Merlin). Brer Rabbit doesn't actually take up that much space when you look at it on Google Maps ...
