Re: Merlin General Discussion

I'm very disappointed that they're choosing to build MORE accommodation when there's barely enough at Towers to keep me there for a day as it is. Aside from the Big 6 and Hex, there's not much else to keep a thrillseeker interested more than a few hours. It's less of an issue at Thorpe but it's slow...

Re: Do you get sick on theme park rides? You can help!

I feel dizzy on Smiler and Samurai mainly, a few rides on Nemesis back-to-back makes me feel quite ill. I've only felt really bad after Time Machine at Adventure Island- felt incredibly ill and could easily have been sick! Avoiding that with a passion from now on.

Re: The Last Film You Watched and Your Rating

Get Out- 9/10 Wow. Wanted to see this for a while, finally got round to it yesterday evening. It's hard to explain- it's really creepy, and reminded me of The Shining as it made me feel nervous for seemingly no reason. It gets a bit crazy towards the end, but with the fantastic acting and symbolism ...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Regarding the three mazes- you start with one maze at your chosen time and then do the others back to back. Towers recommend you leave 90mins for them, so you should have plenty of time for The Welcoming :)

Re: The Last Film You Watched and Your Rating

I watched this one a while back but it's constantly on my mind. The Room I'm not entirely sure where to begin with this movie. It's absolutely awful... but that's why it's so good. Everything about this film is wrong- the cinematography isn't great, the dialogue is freakishly unnatural, plot points ...

Re: Fright Nights

Was at Fright Nights yesterday, was really disappointed with the mazes. First up was Containment- couldn't notice any changes from last year, except that you don't get given a wristband when exiting the attraction anymore. Big Top was next, which is better than last year, however it had some issues....

ON park today, Ghost Trains preshow has a new smell pod. Smells like Dale airs "Boiler Room" scent.

Re: Scarefest

After seeing the teaser for The Welcoming, I've had a few thoughts as to what could be involved. The main thing that people have taken away from the trailer is a potential hooded section, apparently a guide rope has been seen within the maze, but the sacks give the impression it's only partial blind...

Re: What do you think should replace CCL?

I'd want to see a few family flats take it's place. A CBeebies expansion would be nice and all, but I feel that we need more filler rides for older visitors.

Re: The Last Film You Watched and Your Rating

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)- 8/10

I've been watching a lot of older horror films at the moment and this was one of the better ones. Was unnerving and had some over-the-top, iconic scenes.

Re: The Last Film You Watched and Your Rating

It (2017) 2/10 The trailers didn't make it look overly good but it's had stellar reviews so I thought I'd give it a go... ehh, really didn't enjoy it. Felt like every time something scary could happen it'd be a cheap, loud jumpscare... some of the characters were really weak as well. Wouldn't recomm...

Re: Fright Nights

I'm a bit skeptical over this year as the previous years hadn't been the best- this year it's very much make or break whether i go next year and beyond. I've never seen The Walking Dead either so I'm a bit worried, the descriptions make it sound like it relies on people already knowing the story- wh...

Re: Fright Nights

If you have a standard pass you'll need to book (between £5 and £20 depending on when you visit), you don't have to for premium but it's advised (costing £1) :)

Re: Scarefest

I'm with you here Dom, as much as I trust the ents team to create a stunning scare attraction, the location completely confuses me. Noise pollution will be an issue unless they get some containers in there. If they don't, there isn't really a lot of room for indoor parts as the rooms of the building...

Re: Scarefest

After a quick read of the website, it seems all three returning mazes will be changing a little. AMT offers an "extended tour" (possibly hinting at a new, better finale), Sub has "new routes" (the finale is going in a different route, maybe the labyrinth will be shaken up too?) a...

At previous Scarefest's the park has sold hoodies of the event- was wondering if they're the usual price and if MAP discount can be applied? :)

There's a gate that could be opened allowing you to go through- only issue is I'm not sure what's on the other side, pretty sure it's a steep hill!

Re: Scarefest

Thanks :) I've had a little think about the rumoured ToTT entrance and thought- could it be used for The Welcoming? If you were to turn left at the top of the staircase you could then go through the Barbican and into the woods that way? I'm also thinking it could get a name change, given how AMT was...
