Re: Merlin General Discussion

I can see that Merlin have lots of fans here, so I appreciate that I'm not going to get anywhere. BPB is the leading UK park IMO, Merlin have slowly destroyed the magic that Alton Towers had. Days at BPB for me are much more enjoyable than days at Towers, and at the end of the day, that's why I pre...

Re: Merlin General Discussion

In my books leading park equates to best park. In terms of ride quality, the coasters at BPB are far more exciting than the ones at Alton, of course there are exceptions, Nemesis is far superior to PMBO for example. I can completely understand why someone would prefer a Merlin park over somewhere li...

Re: Merlin General Discussion

I wouldn’t say a park who have failed to install a brand new coaster for the past 24 years is really anywhere close to ‘leading the way’ in the UK industry. I think having a preference is fine but it’s undeniable that in reality, as much as some may not like it, Merlin parks are really in another l...

Re: Merlin General Discussion

It looks like Mandyland will really be leading the way in terms of UK theme parks before too long. I prefer it to the Merlin parks already before yet more cuts come to them. Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

This is looking like a really fun coaster now, I just hope they maintain it well. Merlin and maintain don't always see eye to eye.

Re: Scarefest

It all comes down to personal opinion, I thought Mine Tours was absolute rubbish this year and Sub Species (whilst weaker than last year), was still good.

Re: Scarefest

My review of Scarefest opening day: Towers Street has been decorated wonderfully as usual, I just wish there was more Scarefest theming & props spread throughout the park. Our first maze was TOTT, we got the first public run through of 2017 and I must admit that I thought it was better than last...

Re: Scarefest

We've not purchased them yet. We were advised at time of booking that scarefest was included in the park tickets, like Thorpe park. We've arrived today to find we have to buy tickets! Hotel staff have said to go to ticket office when we go in park in the morning and they'll be able to sort us out. ...

Re: Scarefest

How soon in advance would one think to buy the maze tickets? I don't exactly know the day I'm going but I do want to do a scare maze (possibly The Welcoming). Also do they all cost 8 quid each? The mazes are £20 for the three in the towers and £8 for the welcoming. The mazes have sold out for this ...

Re: Scarefest

Can anyone recommend the best times to do the scare mazes please? We're going in on Saturday and they say to allow 90mins for the 3. We're thinking it needs to be done after dark really but we don't want to run out of time! Any advice? Cheers Did you not select a time slot when booking for this Sat...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

From my prediction, it's a high-speed-low-radius 90 degree turn to the right, then twisting and descending into the wide turn at the far end of the site passing by the bottom of the lift, then into the theming structure and into the tall turnaround. Thanks. That's what I had in my mind as well! I w...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

Just a quick layout question, what exactly happens after the first airtime hill until the track passes through the theming object? Most pictures don't capture this part of the layout.

Re: Scarefest

Can you hear it? I've not really heard it from the rooms I've stayed in. Not only can you hear it, but you can feel the beat vibrating around the room, it's really bad! Once you get a few rooms back it is ok, but the closest couple of rooms to the atrium are hell on earth, especially for young chil...

I would support the entertainment lasting for longer if they would actually soundproof the rooms nearest to the atrium in ATH :P

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

I think it will be Wicker Man. There is a hell of a lot of evidence that points to it, but as others have said, any and all of us could be wrong!
