Re: SW8 Speculation and General Discussion

What do we think the chances are of SW8 being open at the start of next season then? Construction of the track seems well along but I'd bet there's a lot of work and tons of testing still to do. I'd love to go to the park on the day it opens but being so far away and having to book a hotel in advanc...

Re: SW8 Speculation and General Discussion

If the ride theme itself is about paganism and reconnecting with the natural world it may not be as dark a theme as some people were fearing. Not a fear I really share since I love dark themes but I can understand people taking issue with every new ride having a sinister theme.

Re: Scarefest

Some of those actors were really going for it. So sad I'm not going this year, hoping they bring The Welcoming back next year in some form in a different location.

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

I assume a fire effect would be away from the track on the statue itself which could be metal finished to look like wood.

Re: The Future of Nemesis Sub-Terra

For me the VR is the weakest part of Galactica and DBG so to see it shoe horned into another ride would be a big waste of money. You'd still need actors to get people into the ride and seated, but with the added time for them to walk around and check everyone has their head set on correctly. Also I ...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

They won't base a ride off a film that's a decade old and is only remembered for being hilariously bad. I'm interested to see if the ride will be connected with druids or something different.

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

I imagine most of the public who don't spend their time looking at meme-y things on the internet forgot about that film ages ago, or will think of the 70s version instead. As a side note, I've heard that the only recorded tales of the burning of a wicker man as a form of human sacrifice came from ro...

You're all wrong, those are clearly the antennae of a giant ant. It's the Honey I Shrunk the Kids ride we've all been waiting for!

Re: Galactica

Sadly I agree as well. It's even worse that I had a big soft spot for Air, listening to the queue line music chokes me up a bit.

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

If you look at it from Towers point of view the new scare zones are a much better use of money. They're cheaper, for one thing, and practically every guest that passes through that area encounters the attraction, as opposed to the old scare zones where the majority of guests will walk straight past....

Speaking for myself, the cheaper options being unavailable just means I'm less likely to go at all.

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

I could see VR working for a game stand or something. Vive controllers, gotta shoot targets and dodge things for a high score, could have a screen showing bystanders what the player is seeing.

Re: Album's You've Heard and Your Review

I bought a bunch of albums on Bandcamp and stuff, here are some things: Chaos Chaos - Committed to the Crime             7/10 A good EP, chilled out pop perfect for relaxing. Funky beats, beautiful vocals. Fans of Rick & Morty will recognise the song 'Can You Feel It?' which is truly the standou...

Re: Last Game You Played and Your Rating

Ah, great idea!

Factorio (PC) 10/10

Possibly the most addictive game I've ever played. Who knew logistics could be so fun, a game for tinkering late into the night.
Also the late 90s dark rpg art style appeals to me, as does the sombre atmosphere created by the music.

So.... after years of games trying to emulate movies and being worse for it, now movies will try to emulate games with probably the same result.

You could be onto something there, that little preshow bit done up to look like it's underground would fit in with the 'groundbreaking' bit people were speculating about

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

Might get some proper official hints at a theme soon instead of speculation from planning applications and the like. Or we could just get some more misdirection... ;)
