Re: Galactica - General Discussion

I agree with Justin, when I went the queue was for the VR seats, and whilst im not Coaster purist, I would say in this example the non VR ride is better. Allowing anyone who wants to, to ride with VR much earlier in the queue, even if its means putting them down the fastrack, would help, the two day...

Could you be any more British right now? On a rollercoaster, and thinking about the location of a future house purchase.

I don't think the human body would have the same appeal as a space theme.

Personally, I would have liked to see it turned to a Phalanx base where civilians join the cause to defeat the Nemesis monster using jet packs.

That works too.

Re: Galactica - General Discussion

I have been wondering if the Galactica theme is just a bit lazy, space travel just feels a bit easy to me, what if you did something along the lines of a trip around the human body, I guess easier to do space if you have to build it around a ride you already have, than to build both track and VR vid...

Re: Inside Alton Towers - General Discussion

Talking of the GP, I felt that "It's better than colouring in!" may have been damming Wicker Man with faint praise. A £16 million anything, had better be better than colouring in.

Re: Inside Alton Towers - General Discussion

If I’m honest, I was really disappointed with this documentary. I was expecting something similar to The Magic Factory but it felt nothing like it. It could have been so much more, it could have shown the day to day operation of the rides, especially The Smiler, to show the GP what goes into operat...

Re: Inside Alton Towers - General Discussion

I think all things considered the documentary has shown the Resort in a positive light. It was to be expected that it would be aimed at the GP, after all, in order for this kind of show to get comissioned it would need to have a wide appeal. Yes, there were a few omissions - the most obvious one be...

Re: Inside Alton Towers - General Discussion

I have to question the timing of this, for what was pretty much a puff piece, and too focused on Wicker Man for what the title suggested, this should have aired 3 months ago, not at the end of August. That said, it did occur to me, that having a "week in the life of Alton Towers" type thin...

Re: Going to Towers alone...

I say do it. I've only ever done Universal Studios Singapore on my own but that was still fun (helped that the park was completely empty and I could do laps of the coasters). In some ways it was more fun because I didn't have to worry about what other people wanted to do. Oh yes, a quiet park, you ...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

This pre show hut, is it not going to be total hell in this heat? You stand around in the queue, very hot, maybe over heated. Then ok maybe it's slightly cooler in there, but you are still hot, and you are all crammed together? Just thinking about it is very off putting. I didn't actually notice th...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

Not sure I'm keen on something that needs extra pay, I've paid enough for my ticket, I should not need to pay extra to enjoy the attractions of the park.

Oh yeah, that van is dumb. Wicker Man should stand alone, it doesn't need anything else in its skyline.

Re: Chessington - General Discussion

I've just heard about this.. bad enough, but at least it isn't Chessington's fault.  Then there are :-# like  this  trying to give the park bad press because of it. Grow up you stupid child!  That parade of news media, wanting to use his photo, is just ugly. Is there a story here? Maybe for the loc...

Re: Galactica - General Discussion

Oh yes, the Galactica theming is nice, just not the actual VR. And talking of pictures, who is buying a picture of themselves wearing a VR headset?

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

I would bet a very high % of people are taking pictures or filming whilst on the rapids, I know I did. The other rides make it plenty clear however.

and you think about it, Saw at Thorpe Park, does it even better than Oblivion, its at a greater angle after all, and that giant saw blade, is all the themeing it really needs.

Re: Wicker Man Reviews & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I also saw staff urging people to go too far forward and then when the doors closed there was lots of space at the back and those at the front struggled to see. A bit odd, but hopefully something that will sort itself out as everyone gets more experienced. No question at all, it's early days, it ca...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Remind me to always go at this time of year, Thursday and Friday, the park was quiet, I got alot done, and on Friday got to take it slowly, go on smaller rides like Blade, go the Sea Life Centre (that poor shark, swims in the same loops so much, I think it might be a robot),and still hit all the big...

Re: Galactica - General Discussion

Finally time for me to weigh in on this VR idea. Oh boy, I am not coaster purest, BUT when the staff tighten your goggles, they fall off, and the same happens for those around you, I have to wonder if VR is ever going to be successful.  So on Day two of my visit, I rode it without the VR, and it was...
