Re: Events Calendar 2019

Did you find a copy of my shift pattern or something? All of them fall on my free weekends so I should be able to attend all of them!

Re: Liseberg

According to their website Balder is open but Helix isn't (https://www.liseberg.com/rides-attractions/). I'm not surprised really, I've ridden Blue Fire during the Europa winter season (~5c-7c) and it CRAWLED around the track. Honestly it was so close to rolling back or stalling around the layout I'...

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach

The second launch acts as a block brake, if the computer thinks the next section isn't clear then it'll stop the train there. Despite being short the second launch straight can accelerate the train fast enough to clear the second half of the circuit. All double launch coasters have this feature, it'...

Re: Merlin General Discussion

My educated guess is that shareholders have lost (or are losing trust) in Merlin Management. On paper they seem to be doing pretty well but, really, they aren't. Visits to all the theme parks (apart from Legoland I understand) are down when they should have recovered. Midways aren't doing that well ...

Re: Drayton Manor

It only ever had 1 train, it just had space/blocking for 2. It's a real shame assuming it's true, not the best coaster in the world but pretty fun and unique. Drayton are plainly struggling despite Thomas Land. Hopefully the rapids can be reopened next year although I'm not holding my breath.

Was it on one train operation? They generally don't open bag drop on one train operation.

Re: Project 2020

Spotted this by the shed on the exit of Nemesis Inferno today, like a flash Thorpe responded to it https://twitter.com/SimonStirrat/status/1035973992144953345 (It says '27?' in black spraypaint, '0?' overlapping in yellow spray paint for those unable to read it) I'm 33/33/34 that it's Thorpe teasing...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

I do. Yes it has taken a long time to plan out, but let’s just think.. this isn’t just a theme park, it’s a resort.. the park, hotels, shops, parking, transportation, etc. This all has to be planned out, because come opening day and it all flops.. then what’s the point in that massive investment? I...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

It's sad when we're coming to expect rubbish like this from the nations biggest (and best) theme park. They are so far away from meeting even an acceptable standard anymore. Just goes to show really. I fear we're past the point of no return, can we really expect anything to improve... ever? I have ...

Expected but still disappointing. Are staggered openings still expected to return after the summer holidays?

Re: TT Summer Festival 2018 - Reviews and Feedback

I'm still feeling 'delicate' from the weekend (I went back to Towers on the Sunday and I'm so regretting it right now) but it was such an amazing event! Thank you to everyone involved. The ERTs were amazing, especially the unexpected Wicker Man one. The talk was very open and frank. The ride takeov...

Re: TowersTimes' Summer Festival - 4th August 2018 - Discussion

Bad news peeps: my post room and/or Amazon have seemingly lost my Hawaiian shirt :( I'll try and fit a suitably loud t-shirt instead unless they find it before tomorrow.

I'm planning to get a taxi there on Saturday morning from Stoke, PM me if you want to split it.

Re: Th13teen - General Discussion

I'm assuming they haven't reopened bag drop for Th13teen during the peak period. It currently has a 150 minute queue, double what Wicker Man is currently stating at 75 minutes. Almost certainly not.  At Thorpe (which could be different from Towers) the people in the bag drop are also fully trained ...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Everything (apart from Inferno which was down to 1 train) was basically walk on from 9pm. I did 3 rides on Saw, Inferno back row, and 6 or 7 cycles on Rush in just over an hour. I'm certainly not complaining!

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

I just saw that too. This sounds more than just teething issues. Does anyone have any more information? I know Merlin aren't the best for communicating why rides are down but I really think they need to issue a statement with some reasons. Having their new major ride down as the summer holidays star...

The Thorpe one was pretty good last year and early this year. I have no idea what happened around May/June.

Re: TowersTimes' Summer Festival - 4th August 2018 - Discussion

Hawaiian shirts? Hawaiian shirts! Add another voice to the crowd: I went solo to the Thorpe one a few weeks ago and probably had the best day at a theme park I've had in a very VERY long time.  I imagine most people are diving to Alton, I'll be staying in a hotel near the bus station (Hanley). Does ...

Yeah I saw that. Figment are the company who supplied the VR movies, hardware and integration for Galactica. I guess VR isn't going away any time soon if they're still involved?
