Re: Six Flags Fiesta Texas

The thing is: this type of ride was never designed as a headline ride for a big park. It was designed for smaller parks (places like Drayton Manor or Flamingo Land) with the larger (2 seat wide) design for larger parks/chains like Cedar Fair and Six Flags.

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach

I wrote this as a reply on a different forum about the Financial Health of The Pleasure beach and thought I might as well share it here. I've dived into their Annual Filings to Companies House to see what their financials have looked like since 1987. https://medium.com/@simon.stirrat/blackpool-pleas...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

When I was there last week quite a few people were complaining about the operations and opening times ('Most of the rides open at 11am, what a con!' is a direct quote from someone on the monorail at 9:15. I heard things similar to that throughout the day too). TripAdvisor is taking a hammering too, ...

Re: Wicker Man Reviews & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I've finally ridden Wicker Man and I'm so impressed by everything. It's better than the sum of it's parts. The first time I went in the preshow it was spoiled by an automated announcement that 'the ride is currently running empty due to testing' which drowned out the last few sentences on the voiceo...

Re: Galactica - General Discussion

I rode Galactica today and, wow, so I was so disappointed. Well, the coaster is still fab but the VR is terrible. I didn't ride it last year as both my visits it was either down or had a 120 minute queue. I understand the headsets are different (they were Samsung Galaxy phones in 2016) but they are ...

Re: Ride Downtime

Back at Alton today and have been told that Rita 'is unlikely to open today' by the guy at the entrance.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

I was there today and yeah, it was terrible. Huge sections of the park closed, continual breakdowns on Wickerman. I don't think Rita even opened. It's sad to see the park in such a state. There are some positives though, I've fallen head over heels in love with Wicker Man (even if it did force me to...

Wickerman down again (along with Rita). Where are you seeing the extended opening times? I've checked Twitter and can't see anything about it

Re: Ride Downtime

They've said on Twitter that they are revalidating tickets, nice of them to be proactive during times like this. Hopefully as an annual pass holder I'll get something but I'm back tomorrow so hopefully everything will be back to normal.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Wasn't it closed around this time last year too? I don't really see how closing it is saving them that much money (most of the staff are all full time, cleaning staff might be contract) so things seem rather dire.  When I travel I sometimes stay in hotels near expo centers when there aren't trade sh...

Re: If you owned Thorpe Park, what would you do with it?

Time to bump this thread. I'm going to do anything per year but here's what I'd do: ⋅ Adjust opening times so the park was open later in the day. Normal opening time would be 12pm, early close would be 7pm extending to midnight during the summer. ⋅ Push ahead with the permanent h...

Re: Dubai Parks & Resorts

Sorry, I was referring to the Disneyland Park, not the resort as a whole ( TEA report 2016 , can't see anything more recent). But still, aiming to get similar numbers to what is considered the best Magic Kingdom park in the heart of Europe was widely optimistic. Especially in year 1. Sounds like som...

Re: Dubai Parks & Resorts

6.7 Million guests? That seems wildly optimistic, that's around the same number as HK Disneyland and significantly more than Disneyland Paris, Eteling or Europe Park.

Still, I wish them luck. From what I've seen there looks to be some awesome rides and experiences there.

Re: Europa Park

Do you speak any French? Most employees speak German and French as Europa Park is right next to the border.

I recommend learning hello, thanks, goodbye and numbers 0-10. That should be enough but really, you'll be fine.

Re: Ride Downtime

I respectfully disagree that it's 'out of their hands', other parks seem to have much less downtime. The only time I've ever seen a ride down for more than 15 minutes at Europa Park was due to weather conditions. Portaventura (despite their reputation) also seem to get their rides up and running aga...

Still no opening or closing times from the 16th April onwards. Not the biggest issue in the world but still odd.

Re: Rush

It wasn't operational today (Monday) but they were actively working on one of the swing. They were investigating/working on the top of the gondola/bottom of the arm. I can't remember which side though, sorry!
