Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

But could someone tell me who Eliot Crawford is, or is he another Miles Cedar... I just searched him up. He's a UK YouTuber with slightly under 500,000 subscribers. He's done some UK theme park vlogs before. He is also good friends with YouTuber, Joe Weller, who has nearly 4.5 million subscribers, ...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

Also this image popped up in a discord server showing the turn around half way through the course... https://s2.postimg.org/5ycq43zu1/IMG_3378.jpg I'm sure you have noted the complete lack of banking on the turn which would suggest a low speed at this point, hopefully this is for a reason or anothe...

Personally, the steel beams don't bother me that much, I'd be more bothered if the majority of the structure was steel rather than wood - such as on Invadr (which looks very ugly).

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

^Gerstlauer possibly could do the lift system, but after the smiler incident, I don't know how likely that would be. Vekoma also make silent lift systems, with a magnetic fin located next to rack and dog system, keeping the dog away from the rack unless the train starts to roll backwards. This techn...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

^I completely agree with you. I think people are misunderstand the silent magnetic lift hill proposal. I believe it will be like the smiler, in that it is chain driven but will have silent, magnetic anti-rollbacks.

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

It doesn't look to have a very big first drop, similar to Nemesis. Will the drop be a curved drop, similar to Mystic Timbers, or a flat turn followed by a straight down drop? ;)

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

I think judging by the length of the station and the scale of the ride, I think the coaster will only have 8 cars per train (16 riders), much like InvadR at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I just don't think a 12 car train would be able to fully fit in the station.

Re: SW9

I definitely think we'll be seeing a B&M for SW9, I'd say around 2021/2022. I'm hoping for a Wing coaster, but I don't really know where SW9 will go...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

I would love to see if this coaster will be as heavily themed as a coaster such as The Smiler. Also, it looks to be a fairly short layout, around 2,000 - 3,000ft long I would say..

Re: SW9

I'd love to see a smaller-scale B&M wing coaster (similar to Raptor at Gardaland) come to the park, as Alton Towers is the only major Merlin park to not have one, and it would be a great fit for their line up...

Re: SW8

John Wardley is probably one of the last people who would spill the beans, I would highly doubt he'd release/discuss this information this early in the construction process.

Hasn't John Wardley retired? I wouldn't have thought he would have any involvement with SW8...
