Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Having a Dungeon at Towers and not having any scenes based around the local area seems a bit stupid to me. The area has loads of Dungeon sort of history and yet they just choose to put a midway on the site of a major ride with the exact same scenes as the other Dungeons in Europe albeit with a sligh...

But there’s nothing new there? Just the normal ‘Ohh be excited for next year’ thing.

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Rumba Rapids is decent imo.

It found it better than Legoland or Drayton’s rapids but there’s nothing that stands out if you’ve done Congo River Rapids.

If this was to get rethemed or removed I wouldn’t really care.

Re: Project 2020

I've seen a lot of people try to take this little clip out of context, thinking its something to do with 'ahhh its wood, rmc confirmed!'/ahhh thats loggers area'. Thorpe won't build anything here because frankly that would be a bit stupid to slap a coaster there. A while back when there were going ...

I thought the smoke effects were water vapour? If so the most dangerous thing you could inhale would be a bit of water.

Re: Industry Talk

The only way I could see Merlin doing this is having a higher than normal price on peak days and then a regular price structure on regular days. The reason I could see them doing a ‘value’ style pricing is if Alton Towers chooses to become a 365 day park where what currently is offseason there is a ...

Re: Merlin General Discussion

Can anyone explain why this happened I watched the whole Interim Update video, the only bad thing was that Legoland growth decreased by 0.3% because they decided to take a year with no major CAPEX and no Lego movie whilst the rest of the chain continues to grow and 9% growth in the RTP chain because...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Most Dungeons currently are in locations in city/town centres with big footfall like Blackpool, London, Shanghai, Amsterdam etc.  Warwick Dungeon is the only exception but I think a major reason it is successful is because it is the only thrill based attraction on the grounds outside Halloween.  Alt...

Worth noting that at yesterday’s Interim Results Nick Varney confirmed that the Alton Towers Dungeon will be a “second gate”.

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

It’s very clear why they’re adding a dungeons, attendance will still be high as WM will still be bringing guests in. Additions such as RCR, Treetop Adventure, Dungeons and the 3 new forms of accommodation have all been added to increase guest spending at the park. There may be more of this sort of a...

The Alton Towers Dungeon - Recycled for 2019

But I’m unsure in The Haunting and The Highwayman, I think The Highwayman is used in the other dungeons but I’ve never heard about The Haunting though. The Highwayman is a scene at The York Dungeon , but doesn't appear to be anywhere else though. Although I haven't come across any other shows calle...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

I know that The Torturer, The Doctor and The Judge are typical Dungeon scenes as I know the other Dungeons have the same scenes. But I’m unsure in The Haunting and The Highwayman, I think The Highwayman is used in the other dungeons but I’ve never heard about The Haunting though. Also 5 scenes with ...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

To move the N:ST drop towers into the Charlie building would require a lot of effort and planning just to move the ride which does not take into account that the ride system had restraint issues. All of this would cost a lot of money and time to do it.

Re: The Last Film You Watched and Your Rating

Venom - 7/10. This film is bad but enjoyable, It had relatively good CG on the Symbiotes but terrible elsewhere. The Script was awful, It certainly was the opposite of "Show don't tell" as well as having very little character development and the villain feels like a bland version of an Evi...

Re: Gate opening ride order during Scarefest?

Hi, Not been in the 2018 season so far but thinking of going for Oct half term.  My usual plan in previous seasons with ERT was Spinball, Oblivion, Ent in ERT, then Smiler at 10, then on to Rita, 13, Nemesis, Air. However WM now changes that and it's scarefest so no ERT (grrrrr). Plan to be at the ...
