Re: EnergyLandia

Saddened to hear about the death of the park employee. :( Thoughts with family and friends. Apparently there is a video (I haven't seen it) from earlier this year of an Energylandia employee entering a ride area whilst the ride was still in operation to retrieve someones lost property. It'd be worry...

Never had an Alton Towers themed cake myself, though I have seen some pretty impressive ones online.

Re: EnergyLandia

[BREAKING] Serious Accident on Hyperion According to Looopings on Twitter, there has been some sort of accident on Energylandia's new Hyperion rollercoaster, which only just opened earlier this year. Looopings wrote: According to several eyewitnesses, a serious accident occurred at the Mega Coaster...

Re: Project 42 (Nemesis Sub-Terra) - New for Scarefest 2018

I don't think they'd need one. Drop tower type rides are that simple, that even young children could ride. This being a scare maze, and with their being an age restriction of 15 yrs and over, literally everyone will be of a height where they could easily ride.

Testing sound effects, generic construction noises... who knows!

Interesting pictures Liam.W, thanks for sharing them!

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

They have apparently been trained to be descendents of the Beornen. This was the first time I saw any interaction. It would be nice to see this worked upon! Descendents of the Beornen?  I think not.  When we were last there the ride stopped and one of the team had to go to the top of the lift tower...

I've heard from someone who is on park today that a Wicker Man segment has been added to the Rollercoaster Restaurant video. :)

Re: Congo River Rapids - General Discussion

To be fair, with the weather being the way it is, I don't know wether I'd want to get absolutely soaked on a rapids ride in the UK, at least not in winter anyway, in the summer, maybe. If only they had a way they could make rapids wetter in the warmer months and drier in the colder ones!

Re: Congo River Rapids - General Discussion

Whether the waterfalls are on or off doesn't make any difference to safety be honest. I understand that they may just be being extra cautious, but they had operated for 30+ years without any incident as far as I can tell, so they're pretty much proven as being safe.  The investigation against Drayto...

Re: ‘Stargazing Pods’ Accommodation Discussion

This stargazing "gimmick" is just to lure people in. They'll only find out that it's not worth it once Merlin already have their money.

Re: 2015-2019: Possible Developments?

That's kinda what I'm thinking too. Group The Alton Towers Dungeon, CCL Burger Kitchen and SkyRide up into a new area (or just add it as part of The Towers themed area) and have the new entrance to CCL in between the House of Monsters building and Twirling Toadstool – which should, if all goes to pl...

Re: ‘Stargazing Pods’ Accommodation Discussion

These aren't themed. They have a few subtle features, like the telescopes, or the star shaped decor on the facilities building. Apart from that, nothing else is shown in the plans. Everyone here who thinks this will be a good development seem to be holding their hopes on getting some sort of incredi...

Re: 2015-2019: Possible Developments?

I'm 99.9% certain that The Alton Towers Dungeon will be located in the former CATCF ride building, and not Sub-Terra. Someone who works for MMM recently said that that's where they are planning to put The Alton Towers Dungeon – and the fact that Alton seem to have panicked and just gone with any old...

Re: The American Adventure

They really need to decide what they're doing with the site now – if it's not going to be used for anything, then they should rip up all the concrete and let nature grow back properly. No point leaving it in the mess it is unless they have plans to do something with the site in the near future.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Music and Videos

Ironically, we've had to endure cost cutting every year now since the accident on The Smiler – that's not them trying to win customers back! I agree though, I think it'll portray Alton Towers in a more positive light, which will hopefully win back the trust of some of those people who have genuinely...

That photo is absolutely shocking, Dan.. It's shocking just how bad some areas of that queue really are!
