Michael Mack tweeted this image of the signage for Eurosat – CanCan Coaster earlier this morning. Looks stunning!  :love

Re: Rollercoaster Restaurant

I've heard from someone who is on park today that a Wicker Man segment has been added to the Rollercoaster Restaurant video. :)

Re: Congo River Rapids - General Discussion

To be fair, with the weather being the way it is, I don't know wether I'd want to get absolutely soaked on a rapids ride in the UK, at least not in winter anyway, in the summer, maybe. If only they had a way they could make rapids wetter in the warmer months and drier in the colder ones!

Re: Congo River Rapids - General Discussion

Whether the waterfalls are on or off doesn't make any difference to safety be honest. I understand that they may just be being extra cautious, but they had operated for 30+ years without any incident as far as I can tell, so they're pretty much proven as being safe.  The investigation against Drayto...

Re: ‘Stargazing Pods’ Accommodation Discussion

This stargazing "gimmick" is just to lure people in. They'll only find out that it's not worth it once Merlin already have their money.

Re: 2015-2019: Possible Developments?

That's kinda what I'm thinking too. Group The Alton Towers Dungeon, CCL Burger Kitchen and SkyRide up into a new area (or just add it as part of The Towers themed area) and have the new entrance to CCL in between the House of Monsters building and Twirling Toadstool – which should, if all goes to pl...

Re: ‘Stargazing Pods’ Accommodation Discussion

These aren't themed. They have a few subtle features, like the telescopes, or the star shaped decor on the facilities building. Apart from that, nothing else is shown in the plans. Everyone here who thinks this will be a good development seem to be holding their hopes on getting some sort of incredi...

Re: 2015-2019: Possible Developments?

I'm 99.9% certain that The Alton Towers Dungeon will be located in the former CATCF ride building, and not Sub-Terra. Someone who works for MMM recently said that that's where they are planning to put The Alton Towers Dungeon – and the fact that Alton seem to have panicked and and just gone with any...

Re: The American Adventure

They really need to decide what they're doing with the site now – if it's not going to be used for anything, then they should rip up all the concrete and let nature grow back properly. No point leaving it in the mess it is unless they have plans to do something with the site in the near future.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Music and Videos

Ironically, we've had to endure cost cutting every year now since the accident on The Smiler – that's not them trying to win customers back! I agree though, I think it'll portray Alton Towers in a more positive light, which will hopefully win back the trust of some of those people who have genuinely...

That photo is absolutely shocking, Dan.. It's shocking just how bad some areas of that queue really are!

Will be sure to channel thoughts of installing flat rides, reinstating SRQs, and longer opening hours on my next visit ;)

Please do :lol

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

TowersStreet posted some pictures earlier today showing that some areas of The Smiler's queue have been cleaned recently – hopefully this is just the start of a whole load of much needed TLC for the ride.

Re: 2015-2019: Possible Developments?

I definitely would like to see Charlie rethemed in 2019 and from what's been said on here it is looking likely. Either a fantasy theme or the most unfortunately likely option is a David Walliams IP. Not big on IP but once they add that, that means that CCL is on the chopping block for 2020. But Coa...

Re: Merlin General Discussion

Ahhh, I read that last night. Very interesting article! Some of Varney's comments did actually make me laugh though... And interesting to hear his opinion on the Disney trackless dark rides. How he was in complete awe at what Disney had created – that, Mr Varney, is the level that Merlin should be c...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Alton Towers seem to be testing new boats on the Congo River Rapids recently. They look to have their own gates and bars around the edges of the boat. TowersStreet have some images, but Twitter is being a pain, so you'll have to go find them yourselves if you want to see them :P

They will potentially be doing soft openings in the days leading up to the official opening if they can get the ride ready in time.

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

Interesting to hear the lift hill music wasn't on / working. Although, to be honest, I can't remember really noticing it too much anyway. I don't think the the sound tunnels need any work really – the heavy smoke effects are sufficient (and long as they're working properly). The maintenance shed wha...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

Smoke, lighting, projections etc. are all things that they should be able to very easily add to the maintenance area. None of these take up much space and are almost fairly basic to install.
