Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

I'm hoping that at some point, maybe not in this series of episodes, that they will have a timelapse of the rides construction.

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

I have a bit of a theory that they may have been waiting for the other hotels to hit capacity on some of the dates during Scarefest and Fireworks, in the hope of saving some money.

Re: Your Favourite TV Shows

Has anyone else been watching EasyJet: Inside the Cockpit on ITV recently? It is on every Monday. I really quite enjoy it - and, they mentioned Alton Towers Nemesis rollercoaster in the second episode!

Re: Ride Downtime

It is a little annoying that Alton are rumoured to have maintenance during the season, when in just a couple of months, all the rides will be sitting closed until next year!!

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

There must have been a proper reason that the coaster was designed to give underground in the first place and I can't think of any reason important enough for that except for a theming element. It might not be that much, like TheDylag said, but there will be at least something in there... surely... ...

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

Great photos, Justin!  The wrapped up pieces... I wonder why those  pieces specifically need extra protection? Could these possibly be moving elements? Getting exited now! I'd be more inclined to say these are in the finished state or have had some paint primer already painted on. The protection th...

Re: Ride Downtime

I would doubt the closure is due to SW8's construction. It's not like they are right next to each other or anything, so if the Rapids were still open then I'd say it's unlikely the Runaway Mine Train's closure was due to SW8. I also have to agree that the amount of downtime is getting better overall...

Re: Scarefest

Perhaps The Welcoming could use the Hospitality Suite near Spinball. This would work if it wasn't quite a proper maze attraction but if it is a bit more like The Sanctuary... having taken into account some of the information about the maze and the details we have on SW8, I would personally have to s...

Re: Exam Results

:) I hope everyone got the results that they wanted! And if you didn't, don't worry - it's not the end of the world (even if it seems that way)! Just remember, there are lots of people you can talk to, and if your original plan dosen't work out - life has almost endless options and paths to follow -...

Re: Mutiny Bay Smokehouse

I can't wait to try out this new place when it opens! We always eat at Eastern Express, so this new place would be a nice alternative nearby.  I guess the removal of the stage is good and bad. Whilst it was themed well, it didn't quite fit in with the courtyard... perhaps Alton want to make the cour...

Re: Duel: Retheme, Replace or Remove?

Considering Alton will want to make the most out of their SW8 marketing, they won't be able to change it enough to market it as being an updated attraction like Hex was. All the stuff they do will be minor, hopefully just improvements to what is already there.

Re: Duel: Retheme, Replace or Remove?

I guess that is SW8 really is part of Gloomy Wood, it could be possible for a few changes to occur to Duel, however I personally wouldn't like this to happen because that Alton would have two attractions that have too many links to the same theme...

Re: The Future of Nemesis Sub-Terra

I have always had a feeling that Sub Terra possibly closed because the theme of something going wrong on a ride wouldn't appeal to people after The Smiler accident... but it has been closed perhaps too long for this to be the case.

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

Whilst the idea of Gruffalo might not fit with the marketing, it's interesting to speculate it could be some sort of animal or creature, that perhaps looks similar... but this is the Construction Discussion, so yeah, fair enough if it looks like the Gruffalo.  :)

Re: Disneyland Resort Paris

Yeah, I only stumble across rumours when I'm researching parks and stuff, but it's nice to have a bit of hope... ED92 had a very good article with amazing details from a shareholders meeting from a while ago, but I now can't find that article... it had a lot of information on how WDS would have been...

Re: Disneyland Resort Paris

Yes, I actually heard that somewhere quite a while ago... I can't remember where though... I've heard that they are planning to overhaul the whole backlot area of the park into a Marvel themed area - except that they aren't going to elaborately theme it or anything, just simple overlays and stuff. A...

Re: Duel: Retheme, Replace or Remove?

Yes, I think it was when The Haunted House was rethemed to Duel, they installed new lighting and stuff. A general service of the mechanisms would also help sort out the timing issues. I hope they sort out the Trommel Tunnel out as well as it's  not been functioning for a long while.

Re: Phantasialand

Seeing some of the pictures posted by members on this topic, I think the theme of this new Coaster might be some kind of industrial theme a bit like Baron 1898 in Efteling... and those seats... I think they look better than Galactica's!
