Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

Alton Towers Resort has been awarded a silver award for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year 2017. Additionally, as I also mentioned in the CBeebies Land Hotel topic, the CBeebies Hotel won a gold award for Best Hotel 2017 from the Staffordshire Tourism Awards.

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

I guess it alright being annoyed at the amount of closed dates, but they are probably only trying to respond to the amount of demand by looking at this year to predict next year. Scarefest this year was by far the busiest I've seen it and likely the resort want to make the most of that next year. Th...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

Isn't the current construction by the Enchanted Village to do with a Santa tipi for Christmas? Possibly. I was there Monday morning and Ents were supervising a delivery of long wooden polls. Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

I do hope they don't get rid of the current yellow boats and they just make the modifications to the existing boats. That's purple boat really wouldn't suit Congo River Rapids!

Not seen it in person but a video that Alton Towers posted on Twitter certainly showed an improvement!

Re: SW8 Construction Discussion

That rock wall has been done so so well. Had I not known it was fake upon seeing the completed ride, I would probably assume it was completely real!

Re: Past rides: "Where are they now?" The Guide

Okay, so I was just playing around on Google Maps when I randomly clicked on a location around near Stoke-on-Trent. To my surprise I had actually clicked accurately on Staffordshire without knowing it and was automatically directed to that page. Looking through some images I found this one: https://...

Re: End of Season Review 2017

Oh wow, where do I start?! 2017 at Alton Towers has been a stellar year in my opinion! So many awesome memories made. For a start, this year has been the first year I have been able to follow the construction of a Secret Weapon, which has been so amazing to see, especially it being a woodie!  From f...

Re: What do you think should replace CCL?

Well, an african jungle theme can adapt to the wetter UK weather as the climate in these areas are also wetter. Rainforests usually get rain every day; they are not called rainforests for nothing! Western on the other hand is usually very dry and arid and so wouldn't adapt as well and would look mor...

I know people have been complaining that Alton' s themes are always a bit cheesefest, but isn't that what makes them so great? I honestly think that on videos, the best looking fireworks were this year's by miles.

Re: Future of the Monorail

I recall something about both the Monorail and the Skyride being in line to have some TLC over this closed season but I can’t remember where I read it or if I actually did? I’m pretty sure there was something because I remember suggesting somewhere that the trains of the monorail should be themed t...

Re: What do you think should replace CCL?

The only issues I would have with Alton turning CCL in to a western themed ares is that they would be turning a more upbeat children's area into a typically run down, less couloufull setting. I strongly believe that Alton need to keep areas like CCL as it seems to represent the current marketing cam...

Re: Fireworks

I have to say that, from looking at YouTube videos, I think that this years Fireworks have been particularly strong, at least visually, with notably more affects like lasers and lights as well as fireworks. The audio / theme is interesting... I suppose the idea is a little Marmite - some of us will ...
