Re: Colossus

I can't tell if you're joking about the swans, Chris :lol Certainly unusual, a bit worrying even. Whatever is wrong must be pretty significant for them to close one of the walkways under the ride.  Also, interesting what Jack says about some sort of clear out of the ride's merchandise... I had actua...

Re: Efteling

I remember hearing about this when it was announced. Absolutely one of the best uses for this type of technology I've seen at a theme park! This type of technology should always be about making guests experience better and this is one of those rare instances which it is truly making a difference. :)

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Only problem I see with that is neither Rita or TH13TEEN are open until 11am. In terms of thrill rides, i.e. rollercoasters, The Smiler, Oblivion, Spinball Whizzer and Wicker Man will all be open before 11am, so you could fill the gap with one (or more, depending on queue times) of those rides.

Re: What do you think should replace CCL?

Oh nice find! Seems pretty promising that they'll be doing something with the area next year. Certainly needs something doing. The TLC felt very much like a quick fix to make it mildly presentable for the 2018 season.

Re: Disneyland Resort Paris

Phantom Manor – Phantom Manor, Disneyland Paris’ very own version of the Haunted Mansion will reopen in Autumn this year, and will feature a reworked storyline, fully renovated scenes, fully refurbished animatronics, and loads of new special effects! As well as this, there is work to include a new ...

Re: Theme Parks and IPs

While attractions based off of IP's are an evermore tempting option for many theme parks, it is definitely a tough balancing act to get them right. There are so many things which need to be taken into consideration in order for it to just "work".  Like saw-x-smile has said, one of the vita...

Re: Walt Disney World - Disney's Hollywood Studios

With a movie style theme park, there really it only two ways it can go. I'm very glad they've taken Hollywood Studios in the IP direction, no doubt inspired by the success of Universal's Wizzarding World of Harry Potter. These types of immersive, story driven experiences are much more marketable, an...

Re: Disneyland Resort

Help me out a bit here, I didn't mention Cars Land, and as I did say before, everything that was added to the park (that includes Cars Land) in the run up to the 2012 reopening were great additions that helped transform the park. I'd go as far as saying the thing that single handedly saved the park ...

Re: The Future of Nemesis Sub-Terra

There were some issues with the restraints, which I'm sure had some bearing on wether they chose to keep the ride open. I think The Smiler accident was maybe just the final nail in the coffin, with them wanting to save money etc.

Re: Disneyland Resort

I see what you mean with Epcot, but the way I see it, by the time California Adventure was reopened in 2012, it had a new sense of direction, and was a very pleasant park to be in, the theme was mainly consistent, although not completely perfect. Changing the likes of Tower of Terror, something whic...

Re: Galactica - General Discussion

I think the one vital mistake Merlin made with Galactica wasn't the addition of VR, surprisingly enough, but is actually Galactica itself. Had Merlin gone down the same path as the likes of Europa Park, they wouldn't be in this situation where they have a "re-themed" ride that has been a c...

Definitely! As much as I dislike Merlin, even I'll admit that one of the things which they do extremely well is their merchandise!

Re: Daytona Beach - Sand Blaster accident

Yes, that was the reason given for the M&D's accident, I believe.  What you say about the types of parks that typically operate Pinfari coasters is very true, which probably explains why there seem to have been so many small accidents like this happen in the recent past. I  know M&D's have p...

Re: Disneyland Resort

I'd just like to link  this  article in here. It's an interesting read if you've got a spare half hour or so. The article talks about the evolution of Disney California Adventure, right from its troubled beginnings, then going on to talk about the changes that lead to its re-opening in 2012, then ta...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

I can't be sure, but I had read somewhere that it can only be used to exit the park as it isn't manned by any staff, and the gate can only be opened from inside the park for security reasons.

Just yet another Pinfari derailment... last one was Tsunami at M&D's which derailed and landed on top of another ride. Hope everyone recovers okay though.

Re: SW9

All I'm saying is that if Merlin want to expand Katanga Canyon and / or Gloomy Wood, they'll need to be very careful about it. Katanga Canyon and Gloomy Wood just "work" if you get what I mean.. they're Towers classics and are two of the best themed areas at the park. Whatever they might w...

Re: Tokyo Disney Resort

They definitely won't retheme Sindbad! They just wouldn't. It's an incredibly unique and popular ride, so it wouldn't make any sense whatsoever to remove it.
