Re: Duel: Retheme, Replace or Remove?

As for the renovation I'm unsure if TLC has the budget to fix everything that is wrong with duel because the list is long and obviously they have to pay for SW8 this year, but I hope if they can not do it all at once they will do it progressively like the nemesis station or fix the worst bits that ...

Re: Duel: Retheme, Replace or Remove?

The ride could even be better than Hex as a family classic, it was built to be a big headline attraction and was brilliant for a couple years. But it was not looked after, not kept fresh and got fiddled with by others and degraded many times over the years. It's nothing like it was originally design...

Re: Vampire

Instead of the taped-from-cassette internet download they're playing now on a dodgy loop, the Vampire station music used to sound awesome. It actually had the organ part (solo) playing from the organ, in sync with the rest the music (the original mix) coming in for the chorus through the rest the st...

Re: Duel: Retheme, Replace or Remove?

The mechanisms were never originally visible and the whole ride lit very well with a lot of attention to detail, especially in the timing and the blacklight illusions. Many of the problems now are to do with the wrong type of lighting used, the timing very off and animations too slow or parts just m...

Re: Duel: Retheme, Replace or Remove?

Duel has already been confirmed to be receiving some TLC over this coming closed season. If it's anything like the quality of the work they did to Hex then a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised. Yes it's been posted it's having "TLC", a step in the right direction. I'd absolutely l...

Re: Duel: Retheme, Replace or Remove?

There is no proper refurb, it is another AV touch up job like what has happened to Duel a few times over the years. It would be great if they were going to properly take all the props out, restore it, service the animations and put it all back afresh. But it's only a small in-house project, unfortun...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

I was disussing the topics they brought up, I wasn't intending to bring up the argument earlier I wasn't involved in. I believe it's good to discuss these topics in a balanced way and that I had something worthwhile to contribute. :)

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

CV, I'm pointing out that you seem to have some sort of vendetta against Merlin despite them doing a lot of things correctly as of recent. Everyone been begging for a wooden coaster? Bam, they got a wooden coaster. They don't appear to have a Merlin vendetta and they are just expressing their opini...

Re: Alton Towers: The Lost Back Stories

the average guest will not know the back story in detail and it is enthusiasts who will undoubtedly understand themes better,  but this is due to the fact that they are more aware of the design process and marketing campaign behind the attraction But no member of the public is supposed to know anyt...

Re: Alton Towers: The Lost Back Stories

It is interesting to hear your views, but I must disagree with you on The Smiler which I believe has been designed with a theme in mind. The reason I say this is because of the strong marketing campaign The Smiler had. This included the 'Smile. Always' YouTube series, links with 'The Sanctuary' maz...

Re: Alton Towers: The Lost Back Stories

Backstories aren't meant to be conveyed to guests, they are written to create a theme that all the designers on a project work towards, to create an end result that is engaging and feels authentic to guests. Thirteen was never really "about" wraiths invading after an excavation, Nemesis is...
