Re: The Swarm

From what was described, it definitely sounds pretty terminal and not likely to be a quick fix. Very glad it kept anything that broke, contained within the ride system. Given the noises I heard last week and the description here, it makes me wonder if it was something that should have been identifie...

Re: The Couch

Just before my flight set off, both pilots left the cockpit and were huddled around a screen with one of the cabin crew. They didn't look overly happy and I thought I heard them say something like "half". But we took off without delay, so it can't have been anything too serious. Eight hour...

I would say that unless something else unforeseen goes wrong, it will definitely be up and running then. :)

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Thorpe Park car park charges have changed again. The prices are now: £8 online in advance. £10 at the Island Ticket Centre, Admissions, or Fastrack Outpost. £15 at the gate, contactless payments only. Free for VIP and Premium Merlin Pass holders. The FAQ on this is an entertaining read. Essentially ...

Re: The Swarm

The Swarm has had some sort of technical issue today and has been out of action most of the day, right up to park close. Whilst it had a weather delay at one point during the day, it was later listed as closed and Thorpe social media have confirmed it had a technical issue. One to watch, as the lift...

Re: Fright Nights

Me and my friend are planning a Fright Nights trip and we want to dress up but are wondering if we’d be the only ones with makeup on and stuff like that ... so my question is, do people dress up for Fright nights or Not?? Some people do. Last Saturday there were few people dressed up during the day...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

With regards to The Haunting, I would put money down that this is a mirror maze. They are used in Dungeons to control guest flow as the exit is a mirror door which gives the illusion that it is a dead end until they are ready. Well this explains a lot. I was in group that did a full loop of the mir...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

These just remind me of cheap seaside attraction posters. Zero magic, wonder or adventure that I'd expect from a theme park.

Also if anyone intends to enter. The prize is for 4 people. Stargazing Pods hold 4 people. No expense spared on the prize. :sus:

Re: Swarm Chris' Tropical Travels

I've come to the conclusion I don't particularly like Disney Fastpass+. Sure there are benefits to being able to guarantee a ride on a particular attraction, before you travel. But that's at the expense of having to micromanage your trip and have everything planned out long before you arrive. If you...

Re: Fright Nights

Thorpe Park have announced a limited run of behind the scenes tours at three of the Fright Night mazes. Happening on different days and priced at £45 per person (not including park entrance fee), each two hour tour explores two of the mazes from Living Nightmare, Saw Alive and Platform 15, as well ...

Re: Project 2020

Well whoops :lol Although to be fair, they deliberately placed that first sign in an attraction that had no stated queue time, and in a style fitting the theming they were using. So they knew what they were doing from the start! :lol I noticed last week that they reduced the number of posters in the...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

If they're going for a lower budget year, then making use of the existing boat system as the entire attraction and adding scenery, theming and perhaps even animatronics, would surely be most cost effective. Rather than ripping it all out, rebuilding walkways and then being extremely reliant on actor...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

As reported by the Derbyshire Telegraph who quote TowersTimes forum users Justin and Dan, the speculation is that the Alton Towers Dungeon will be similar to the Warwick Castle Dungeon in terms of size, and that it will cost extra for all but VIP and Premium Merlin Annual Pass holders. :D So I guess...

Re: Fright Nights

It will be interesting if they rework anything in the few closed days. I would guess if anything gets a quick fix, it will be Vulcan Peak of Disappointment. Although without adding whole new scenes, with actors like those in the promo pictures, there's probably nothing they can do other than get som...

Re: Fright Nights

Thank you for all the info Swarm Chris.  I tweeted them and they were very comprehensive with the situation and gave 2 fastpasses to my GF and me. It was really a cold day, and the rain didn't stop till we come back to London. Despite of that we could enjoy a great day. We arrive and went directly ...

It does look amazing!

Wish they had done evening rides for it earlier on in the year. Make it a hotel only ERT and they wouldn't have had problems selling rooms in April/May.

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - The Future

The air gates are ridiculously over sensitive, which causes them to trigger an e-stop at the slightest touch when closing. Otherwise, yep the station is fine! :)

They have storage containers next to the fences.

Didn't see any on the right side of the station yesterday. I deliberately moved away from the back rows, as I know that area floods in the rain and didn't want to destroy my bag further with water.

Re: Fright Nights

As the culmination of The Year of The Walking Dead , my overall impression of Fright Nights this year was less nowhere is safe and more nowhere if fully staffed . Whilst I had some great interactions, especially with the roaming actors, it felt like an overly thinly spread event which may struggle t...
