Re: Project 2020

The request they made definitely only covered small additions. :) Here is a quote from their application: It is considered that the adoption of PDRs will provide Thorpe Park with the flexibility to provide small scale kiosks, stalls, small scale rides up to specific agreed heights (temporary and pe...

Only for certain small things. A roller coaster or any other significant outdoor attraction is not exempt from the standard public planning permission process.

And it was on this evening, at 11:27pm, that the members won the first round of Quick Count: Tug of War.

There was much merriment and cheer. :)

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - Quick Questions

On a really bad day... all of them. :(

Strangely Inferno seems to get hit first, even though it's the most enclosed. Next is usually The Swarm and the rapids. Stealth can often last reasonably long as I think they just turn the power up :lol.

Justin, you've got the days and nights mixed around for Platform and Do or die

I'm sure there are many jokes that could be made about the daytime one being scarier, because you can see how it's all been constructed! :lol

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - Quick Questions

DigiPass is available, you can buy either a daily one, or MAP one in the dome on entry, just as you enter smack bang in front of. Now, my question, not a TP regular, living so close to towers, the last time I went was the summer holidays, the queues were horrendous, bad enough for me to buy a fast ...

Re: Chessington - General Discussion

Chessington has released a teaser for the replacement to Hocus Pocus Hall, containing a list of interested parties including several former characters at the park. https://i.imgur.com/cCO08ln.jpg I can see Zappomatic, Rodger the Dodger and of course Professor Burp. Any more I've missed? Also odd th...

Re: Fright Nights

Thorpe Park has announced that the Fright Night preview event for Merlin and Thorpe Park annual pass holders will be on Saturday 29th September. No pre-booking will be necessary, however only a selection of the attractions will be open for passholders on the evening. Exact timings for the event and...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

I've been trying to figure out what exactly this thing was that flew off, along with what exactly they mean by foam padding. It looks pretty large and most padding on attractions is fairly dense, so I can't imagine it would do anyone any favours if they collided with it on the ride. But then again, ...

I actually think it's a much more current IP than anything Merlin has used recently, Shaun the Sheep Movie 2 is out next year so it's still popular and has legs.

I did not know that! Good on Aardman Animations! :)

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - Quick Questions

I searched at The Train Line, and they offer the same rate (Off-Peak Day Return), and it also says that I can travel on any eligible train. Will I be able to buy this Off-Peak Day Return rate at the same station? Yes, off-peak day return is a standard ticket that will be offered at the station for ...

Re: Alton Towers Resort Future - General Discussion & Wishes

That article reads like an advert to Merlin, especially given Varney's recent comments on wanting Ratatouille style dark rides in the Legoland parks. Given the IP is far from its prime, it's probably a great fit for Merlin. :sus: Hopefully one of the parks gets this type of dark ride soon. If not a ...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

Is there any truth to this Universal Studios London rumour? It seemed to have sprung out of the blue? It's all speculation at the moment. With the park's intention to be a large resort that rivals Disneyland Paris from the start, then a company like Universal who can bring a lot of attractions, IP ...

Re: The Walking Dead: The Ride - New for 2018

A couple of the effects aren't working today. Some of the smoke on the ride and one of the pre-show screens aren't working today. And now for a possible Fright Night update: It's possible the rear screen in the pre-show doesn't work because it's not there any more. There's a little r...

Bad news for those hopeful for the removal or otherwise update of Colossus. Fairly sure these are a new range of hats for sale.

Good news for hat fans.

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

For anyone heading to Thorpe over the next few weeks, keep in mind that the wind will likely be the biggest cause for ride availability issues at the park. Also remember the rides at Thorpe are fairly exposed and it can be calm on the ground in the park, whilst being really windy on the rides. Sadly...

Re: The Couch

Enjoy Alton! :) In other news, last night was the Ig Nobel Prize awards. These are awards for scientific research that first make you laugh but then make you think, hosted each year at Harvard. They're light-hearted, but normally fairly highly prized by academics. This year's award for medicine went...
