Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

The language they've used here definitely sounds like an upcharge, along with the change to the terms and conditions. Strangely they then later mention the voucher not including secondary attractions, such as golf or tree top. 2019 Laugh & Scream, Alton Towers Dungeon + Theme Park Entry Terms an...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Totally understand this thinking. The park is not far off being a year-round resort, with it being open in pretty much every school holiday now. Given the Staffordshire climate, Alton certainly need some bigger ticket indoor attractions. But with it being so far away from any entrances, I feel they ...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

For me, Thorpe's overall operations has improved greatly this year. The complaints I've seen online still happen when they seem to occasionally mess up the basics, but overall there seem to be a lot less than last year. Hope DBGT works out for you tomorrow. It has a tendency of just not working or t...

Re: Fright Nights

Pretty much. Hoods came off and you went through some air bags and exited into the Inferno photo area. There was certainly an unfinished feel to a lot of things. We had fun, but I can easily see cases where people would go through and possibly not enjoy themselves as much. Have to also agree that th...

Re: Fright Nights

Vulcan Peak of Surprisement - 6/10 I'm going against what everyone else is saying here. I went into this expecting the worst, and came out thoroughly surprised by it. Could it have been improved mid season, who knows, all I know is it was quite a good maze, second best imo. The majority of reviews ...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

That'll be the SSE side of the park again then. Thankfully the mazes are on the other side of the park and should have their power provided by a different provider.

Edit: SSE hoping to get everything back up and running by 6pm.

Re: Swarm Chris' Tropical Travels

It's 6:00am, I've been awake since 4:30am. At 7pm, CGA opens with its Railblazer-y goodness. But... I'm currently 1 mile away from the park. The drive time is currently 7-10 minutes with low to moderate traffic. It's literally a 4 lane straight and direct road from where I am to the park. It's expec...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Double post of disappointment. There's a banner at the exit to Thorpe now that says: "Watch out for our 2019 events, visit thorpepark.com/2019" That's not sounding very new attraction-y. I wonder if they'll rely on seasonal events rather than any new attraction next year. If so, hopefully ...

Re: Chessington - The Future

If the scenes have the same quality or greater than Gruffalo, then this would be nicely done. There's really not much they can do with the space they have in the Burnt Stub Mansion, but a completely torn out and redone walk through attraction I think should be really nice.

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Wouldn't it also normally imply a literally separate attraction too?

Except for those two-person sling shot things, I'm struggling to think of a full-cost ticketed entry park that has an attraction with an additional cost inside it.

Re: The Swarm

If it's up and testing, then this is good! Perhaps I should have given the park a little more faith to have spare parts in stock. :D

Hopefully something big! :)

There are no planning permission requests for anything at the moment. Sadly, I would temper those hopes a little. My guess is maybe something is getting re-themed. At most, a small flat ride being added somewhere.

Re: The Swarm

From what was described, it definitely sounds pretty terminal and not likely to be a quick fix. Very glad it kept anything that broke, contained within the ride system. Given the noises I heard last week and the description here, it makes me wonder if it was something that should have been identifie...

Re: The Couch

Just before my flight set off, both pilots left the cockpit and were huddled around a screen with one of the cabin crew. They didn't look overly happy and I thought I heard them say something like "half". But we took off without delay, so it can't have been anything too serious. Eight hour...

I would say that unless something else unforeseen goes wrong, it will definitely be up and running then. :)

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Thorpe Park car park charges have changed again. The prices are now: £8 online in advance. £10 at the Island Ticket Centre, Admissions, or Fastrack Outpost. £15 at the gate, contactless payments only. Free for VIP and Premium Merlin Pass holders. The FAQ on this is an entertaining read. Essentially ...

Re: The Swarm

The Swarm has had some sort of technical issue today and has been out of action most of the day, right up to park close. Whilst it had a weather delay at one point during the day, it was later listed as closed and Thorpe social media have confirmed it had a technical issue. One to watch, as the lift...

Re: Fright Nights

Me and my friend are planning a Fright Nights trip and we want to dress up but are wondering if we’d be the only ones with makeup on and stuff like that ... so my question is, do people dress up for Fright nights or Not?? Some people do. Last Saturday there were few people dressed up during the day...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

With regards to The Haunting, I would put money down that this is a mirror maze. They are used in Dungeons to control guest flow as the exit is a mirror door which gives the illusion that it is a dead end until they are ready. Well this explains a lot. I was in group that did a full loop of the mir...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

These just remind me of cheap seaside attraction posters. Zero magic, wonder or adventure that I'd expect from a theme park.

Also if anyone intends to enter. The prize is for 4 people. Stargazing Pods hold 4 people. No expense spared on the prize. :sus:
