Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

And Vortex is back, according to  http://www.thorpepark.tv .  Looks like it was an electronic/electrical issue in the control room, which was fixed yesterday. Detonator is back up and running. Edit 2: Vortex confirmed closed by Thorpe - the queue time listing was turned on by accident. Feel free to...

Re: Funny Things You've Overheard at Parks

Not heard, but saw. The safety notice on the back of the Colossus seats:

"Please keep arms and legs inside the train and on the floor at all times."

So we've all been riding it wrong... :-k

Re: Disneyland Resort

Just saying they're unlikely to be going cheap on anything in the park is all. Also Cars land isn't Californian, but it fits really well within the park. :) I'm with you on the wishing it retained more of its Californian charm, as it is a fantastically relaxing park, especially compared to Disneylan...

Re: Disneyland Resort

They're definitely not adding the cheap rides back into California Adventure :). If they did that then the locals would get upset and not bother with DCA, which would clog Disneyland up even further. Cars Land had an estimated cost of $1bn, and it is an absolutely brilliantly themed area, with the m...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - The Future

That's a shame then.

There's an absence of any sign of construction or potential construction across the park. Even the walled off area by I'm a celebrity has been completely cleared bar a couple of stands.

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - The Future

Any insider information you're aware of there then? :) Didn't they want to put their full standing hotel on the land behind the island behind Swarm island? Would make sense to have both projects at least agreed upon internally before starting one. The Shark hotel I seem to remember is on a temporary...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - The Future

Yes, the island behind Swarm island and the area to the side of the Dome are part of the current planning submission, with a 50m and 40m coaster penciled in respectively.

Re: The Future of Nemesis Sub-Terra

London Dungeon had issues with theirs for a bit a little while ago, so I'm not sure it's just that the Alton one that has issues. But the Dungeon ones will have a higher priority as it's a fairly significant loss for them. Interestingly it was expected that they would install a haunted house drop to...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Another flat looks to have gone pop. Detonator has the attraction unavailable sandwich board this week. Maintenance has lifted the carriage up and are currently inspecting the insides of the base. Edit: Make that two. Rush currently has a man climbing to the top. Edit 2: Rush just needed regular qui...

Re: The Swarm

The first drop into the roll is one of favourite sections of any ride. I've not ridden anything that gave me the sense of flying as that section does.

It just needed to be a little longer with maybe another airtime section to be perfect.

Re: Disneyland Resort

But Tower of Terror was already an IP based attraction, and by reports one that Disney no longer wanted to pay for at DCA :)

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - The Future

Well I didn't consider them ripping all of that out! But you're right and they have been slowly but surely closing that entire area down. The two rides they did add have never been integrated fully into the park and look like temporary attractions.

Re: B&M Discussion

Digging out an old topic here, as I came across an interesting video from the B&M fabrication facility in the US. They do all US manufacture, along with China and some European production.  The facility stores all the track it builds, outside in full public view. The guy who does these videos s...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - The Future

I'm not sure there's enough space to put something interesting in the back area of the park. They could run an out-and-back hyper along where the Loggers drop is, but I'm not sure where it would end up after that with all the water, buildings and Inferno if they continue alongside the park boundary....

Re: Disneyland Resort

I'm not sure Disney have lost vision here. One of my favourite aspects of this area of the park was looking across the water at the fun wheel and California Screamin', which they've kept in the classic style. Walking through the area felt somewhat chaotic anyway, and other than Toy Story Mania, the ...

Re: SW9

Well if they want a low investment year, I'm sure we could ship the one from Thorpe up to them... :P I wonder if Alton will ever invest in a modern dark ride system. Symbolica at Eftelling showed someone other than Disney and Universal could make a high quality modern dark ride and have it maintain ...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Going to Towers next week, is filming allowed in Wicker Man's pre-show and station, say with a mobile phone?  I've seen people film in both, but it may be at the ride operators discretion. If you do film the pre-show be sure to stand at the back to not disturb anyone. :) - note see the comment belo...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

The London Resort website is still offline and Companies House have them listed as overdue on their confirmation statement. https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/07625574 The confirmation statement is pretty much tick some boxes and pay a small fee. Whilst it's not unheard of for this to lapse,...

Re: Tokyo Disney Resort

Tokyo DisneySea already has Soarin', so hopefully Peter Pan will be something new. Whatever it is, no doubt the theming will be excellent.

Boats are somewhat standard fare for Disney high capacity dark rides though.
