Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Just saw that. Good will the park had generated is going quickly by the look of the responses. It's just greedy double dipping on ticket costs. Given their last advert talking about the amount of money people will spend next year, rather than what is new and exciting at Alton Towers, I get the feeli...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Seems reasonable to keep the prices where they were, as they haven't really added anything for this year as part of the standard ticket price. Plus if my suspicion of 4pm off-peak closing is coming back, then there would be zero justification to increase the price. One thing I don't understand is th...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

I wouldn't expect it to be part of the standard Merlin annual pass, but I agree, if it's not part of the premium pass then I can imagine a negative backlash. Especially as it is part of the Alton Towers Premium Pass.

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Thorpe Park will be targeting a younger audience as part of new additions for 2019, with a call for actors to fill character roles for a younger audience, appearing on the Merlin jobs page . We are scouting for talented actors and performers to join our Entertainments Team for fixed term opportuniti...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Think they've also just released the park hours too inadvertently. Timeslots are available from 10:00 to 15:45 most days in April, with 10:00 to 14:45 on more off-peak days. With an hour attraction, are we looking at 5pm and 4pm closures again? Slots are locked at 13:00 from May onwards as I'm guess...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

I think the biggest difference with Sea Life is that, so long as it's not at capacity, you can just wander in and out as you please. Having been critical of the timings aspect, I have to say that shows have the exact same issue. But these work perfectly fine at many parks and is something I'd like t...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Managing the day, is one of my concerns too. Not just from losing an hour to a single attraction, but also slotting it in with everything else. Say 40 minutes until your time slot, but Rita, Th13teen and The Smiler all have 50 minute queues? I imagine there will be a slot buffer, but even so I can s...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Whilst it had all but been confirmed, the resort terms and conditions have been updated to list the Dungeons as a separate chargeable attraction at the resort. 7. Additional charges apply for entry into: a. any concerts taking place at the Resort; b. any themed special events taking place at the Res...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

This week's Thorpe Park Winter Update talks about Derren Brown's Ghost Train and the process of getting it ready each day. Interestingly, the video flickers at the start to reference last week's video. So, did they decide they wanted to add a flicker, get the wrong part number, but decide it was goo...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

Yep they split them up, I'm guessing to give them some ability to continually market the pass over the winter. Fair amount of negative views on this sale though across social media though, either due to timing being a little later than normal or the price may have gone up? There was a summer sale fo...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

Another director...

Having said that, I have noticed a couple of London Resort stories pop-up recently. Nothing more than the same old UK Disneyland story, but it was odd that it had come up again, as seemingly there has been no public movement to cause them.

Re: The Swarm

Thorpe's Instagram Story is saying that The Swarm is also getting a new chain.

Image

Given the noises and apparent breakage of it at the end of last season, it's not so surprising.

So it will contain 5 shows and a boat ride. The terms and conditions also state the premium pass admits one pre-booked timed entry to the Dungeons per visit to Alton Towers. Standard Season Passes are valid from the date of issue until 3rd November 2019 (excludes Fridays, Saturday and Sundays in Aug...

Re: Wicker Man - General Discussion

Video disappears within half an hour of normal office hours starting on Monday, and doesn't appear to have ever been advertised on the parks social media channels. I'm thinking it wasn't meant to have been released. Maybe uploaded to share between teams and someone pressed the wrong button? It gave ...

Re: Traveling in your own

Hello! I've done a lot of solo trips in the last year, starting with the UK parks most weekends, then venturing to Phantasialand and finally Disney World, Universal Studios and SeaWorld at the end of the year. It can be daunting to start with and occasionally feel a bit odd, but I've had an incredib...

Re: SW9

A launch coaster makes the most sense given Alton's restrictions. Perhaps there's a gimmick side of things in terms of it being the current fashion for roller coasters. However, it allows a pretty decent level of freedom to control the rides flow that gravity based rides lack. If they went for a lau...

Re: Alton Towers Resort Future - General Discussion & Wishes

Well it looks as though Alton might be attempting to make it fit the environment. Unlike Thorpe's dumping of random ride in one of the parks few consistently themed areas. :lol But it makes me wonder, is Frog Hopper drop tower 1 and Thorpe's Lumber Jump, tower 2? Seems unlikely Alton would keep Frog...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - Rise Of The Demon

So it'll be the fourth season for Ghost Train. Will there be any more adjustments this year? Or has the funding pot finally been cut for this attraction? Will reliability finally be figured out? https://i.imgur.com/Kq7bKkh.jpg It would be great to see the reliability worked out. It amazes me how the...

Re: Wicker Man - General Discussion

Maybe it's a trailer for things to come?

As for new things, I think the only thing that has been mentioned is the final tunnel as a possible development area. I'm guessing the work mentioned here was maintenance.
